Pre-diabetic - not what I wanted to hear!

I wonder if as you had had quite a carby meal your pancreas had spurted into overdrive and produced a bit too much insulin thus sending your blood glucose level a bit too low. Just a theory of course. Maybe keep a few jelly babies in you pocket.
Do be careful of driving if you feel like that as it was just luck you actually reached home before passing out.

Agree, an incident while driving could be a real issue, though the onset did give me some notice. Going to be watching things closely for a week or two - and buying some jelly babies.

My hunch is that this episode was not diabetes related and that you should discuss it with your GP and if appropriate ask for referral to a consultant physician.

Thanks. Being pre-diabetic, and then lately back on the right side of it, something diabetes-related seemed the likeliest cause as it was the most recent pothole in life's road. A telephone appointment with my GP wasn't very enlightening and I suspect I'm going to have to rattle someone's cage if I'm to get this investigated further.

I do think it’s worth pushing to get it looked at properly even if those awful symptoms have since subsided. For someone like you who has recently achieved such an excellent A1c and very healthy BMI it is very improbable that this episode arose merely from a moderately carby day with some walking. Please do have it looked into.

OK, here goes...
I had a face-to-face appointment with a GP on Wednesday - first for about 3 years I think, and none of the GPs I knew are with the practice any more. She was very thorough in studying the screens full of information that had been fed through from paramedics and A&E, but her verdict was that, given all my main functions (stuff like ECG, blood, kidneys etc.) were shown as normal, I should treat this as a 'one-off' but to monitor the situation myself. If I get similar symptoms again they will investigate further (assuming I don't drop in my tracks! 😱).
That's where we are today.

Well, that’s a sort of answer for the time being, I guess, and it’s good to know that your primary systems are not showing anything of concern. You feel fully better at the moment? If a month or two goes by without a recurrence then it would seem safe to interpret this a weird random hiccup in something and put it behind you. Meanwhile probably safest to keep within reach of help just in case. Glad you’ve seen a conscientious doc anyway. Keep well.

Yes, sort of an answer is how I see it. Physically I think I'm over it, but I feel I'm still on some sort of state of alert mentally and emotionally in case symptoms return. I'm still dog-walking (accompanied by my jelly baby friends) but want to get back to something a bit more aerobic as and when. Nothing silly though.
Meanwhile, onwards and upwards.
Best wishes and thank you...
