My GP is sending me to a neurologist, and referring me to the hospital sleep clinic, to puzzle out my insomnia, I only get three or four hours sleep. I'm tired today because I walked for miles but glad I accomplished it, was a lovely day though! I bought some apple cider vinegar because I'd heard it helps lower blood glucose....or was that some medical student's prank? A friend told me today that cinnamon is also good for it, according to some scientific research. Had very low mood in the morning and afternoon, only cheering up a bit when I promised myself an oozing chocolate muffin. Dry mouth wasn't quite so bad today, nor blurred vision. But I'm realistic that it may be bad again tomorrow.

I put cinnamon in my first cup of coffee of the day along with a small amount of salt to prevent cramps.
Recently I began to take folic acid and it has made a huge difference to my sleeping, and I am actually falling asleep at my desk if I try to stay up late, and waking up earlier too. I no longer get the vivid dreams and waking visions which have been a common thing during the last few years, I think I am sleeping more deeply, so I do not wake during dreams.
This is very recent, but such a change is rather surprising.
I do use apple cider vinegar for things when I want a really sharp vinegar - I make salad dressing from milder wine vinegars.

Thankyou dearly Drummer, great ideas. I shall definitely get some cinnamon and try the folic acid. I took my first quaff of vinegar this morning so shall be interested over the next few weeks if this too might help. Its disgusting though. The thought of having to knock it back every day, and night, without the all important fish and chips, is sad. But I shall endure! I did sleep better last night so I'm thinking my marathon walk for miles may have helped last night, but I'm not sure I can keep repeating that every day just to get some sleep. However, its all healthy. Part of my insomnia is due to extreme restless leg syndrome, from having come off my dreadful seven years of medication. I'm left with that. I don't want to medicate myself with antiparkonsinism drugs, and there isn't much on the alternative scene that seems non habit forming. But this sunny day looks to make up for it all. Going to venture to the Botanical Gardens, probably along with six million other tranquility seekers.

OOh - envy envy - I love a proper botanical garden - with guidebook and labels with the latin names, and a shop at the end with plants to buy, or, even better, packets of seeds with hand written identities.
I am pretty confident that the folic acid is what is making the difference - I just have not changed anything else, and on the night after forgetting to take it, I was bothered with thoughts, then the next night, out for the count again.

@Drummer i love the idea of putting cinnamon in my coffee, how much do you put in and in what form? I so need to try this 😛

I take apple cider vinegar most days: 1 part to 3 parts olive oil and a teaspoon of Dijon mustard makes a lovely salad dressing. If you’re a salad eater you may find it less stringent when added to a dressing

Well, I had a mission to photograph as many interesting botanical specimens as possible, long story why. Edinburgh's Botanical Gardens is knockout! This weekend at least. All of creation was bursting into bloom. But not the huge stinky 'corpse' flower, the biggest flower in the world that is reputed to reek of rotten flesh. Everything else was present and correct and yes, labelled in Latin. My favourite plant is mimosa pudica, the ferny plant that instantaneously moves if you tickle it. It makes me realise probably all plants are as 'aware' even though they don't move. Do you take your folic acid at night or in the morning. I took another gallon of vinegar in water, vile, but I didn't eat all my dinner tonight.

It says on the container to take with food, so I have been leaving them by the coffee maker, as I usually got there after eating in the morning.
Plants not only sense their surroundings and environment they react to warnings about pests attacking other plants, and they can count the passing of the seasons - some plants will all flower in the spring of the same year, even if taken half the world away. There is a bamboo which flowers all at the same time, over 100 years after the last flowering - it uses runners underground to spread during the other years.

Thankyou, Drummer. I will get some folic acid and take it in the mornings. Very intriguing about the bamboo. I photographed some today. I remember seeing a picture of a fossil of the very first flowering plant. It was tiny. Just looked like a little noodle. Amazing to wonder that so many complex riotous blossoms arose from a plant so unassuming.

Cooksonia is the name of the fossil. There are images on google. Sssshhhh! I'm meant to be posting about prediabetes.
