Pre diabetic and portion sizes

Hi There, not posted on here for a while. I’m a Pre diabetic and was doing really well with portion sizes, and really cutting down on crisps, chocolate etc .
I feel like now my portion sizes are creeping up and I feel disheartened and that I’ve let myself down, I’m eating healthy and checking the carbs, any advice on getting back on track would be really helpful.

How did you get the portion sizes, right for you in the beginning?

Do you weigh out portions? I find that doing so means I get an accurate figure for carbs.

No, I was using a smaller plate and found that I wasn’t getting full up.

I have the small plates or the 26cm size ones. I was thinking of ordering a divided plate

Hi MichelleN,

Please don't feel disheartened. None of us are experts on food and nutrition so we're just doing the best we can with the info we have available.

Portion sizes are a valid way of keeping an eye on what you eat though it's also important to check what you're eating. You can have a plate full of food which leaves you feeling hungry or super healthy food that isn't filling.

Feeling satisfied with your meal is a valued part of wellbeing so maybe a new menu plan is in order? I like to add things like steamed veg, mushrooms and a hearty salad to full me up when I don't want to over indulge on my main meal.

Is there anything that you could add that would help you feel fuller and achieve your goals?

Thank you, I like salad and vegetables maybe I’m restricting myself with the amount of veg and salad I’m having. I like the idea of getting a new menu plan, maybe I need some more variety within my diet.
