Obvious question do you have a problem with Diarrhoea and or Dehydration?

Ok I know you have Covid and I would suggest you speak to your Dr first, you may be given
a suitable medication on prescription.

Can`t see any reason why you shouldn`t take Dioralyte but I`m not medically trained so my advice
is from a personal point of view.

Their website is :- https://www.dioralyte.co.uk/ hope this helps take care. xx

It contains Glucose as the primary ingredient so probably not a good choice for a diabetic who has an illness which might raise BG levels to start with. Plain water would be a better option in my opinion.
Do you have a means of monitoring your BG levels? ie. A BG meter? If so, I would base my decision on using Dioralyte on what your levels are and if they are high to start then don't even try it but if they are reasonably OK then try it and test afterwards to see how your body copes.

From reading her post @rebrascora think she needs immediate relief, understand your thinking
water is an excellent Idea to rehydrate her but it won`t happen overnight, where as medication
will help her now, but HCP first.

In the mean time drink plenty of water to rehydrate yourself @Hemsley38 as suggested, call doc
in the morning and see if you can get a telephone appointment.

Let us know please how you are doing, we want to help. xx

Hi all. I didn't know where to turn as got some shocking news this morning. I started feeling like I was getting a cold a week ago and was sniffly, as time went on I lost my taste but not smell. I decided to get tested Wednesday and got the positive result this morning. I have no cough, just a slight wheeze and congestion like I have a cold. I have been so careful and have worked from home since the march lockdown. I have a bad tummy and that's all my symptoms. I'm just now scared because of what I read and see on the news about people with diabetes and covid. Please tell me there's good news out there....I feel OK. I just don't want to get worse
@Hemsley38 I'm type 2 and also tested positive from a test on Saturday 2nd Jan. My mother of 80 yrs old was admitted to hospital Monday 29th December as she had a fall the day before and was unwell.. I visited her at home the day before to ensure she was not concussed and all seemed ok, she was alert. However, whilst she was in hospital she tested positive on Tuesday 30th and passed away new years day. I then had to self isolate for 10 days because of having contact with her... I have had a few, not continuous, tickly coughs which has surpassed and now some tummy upsets along with mild diarrhea... Hope you are ok.

Just been to our little supermarket over the road, one young lady in pj's didn't have a mask. They shouldn't allow peoples in without masks. Grr.
PJs are now "loungewear"rather than sleepwear". Personally, I don't go out in mine but put them on after I have showered if I am having a slobby day. But I don't consider it any more of a problem to see someone in tartan cotton trousers than in grey sweat pants. They are basically the same thing in different fabric.

As for mask wearing, it is easy to judge people for not wearing them I find myself doing it but give myself a firm talking to.
My brother recently went to Tesco. As he arrived, he realised he had lost his mask en route so followed the signs "If you do not have a mask ..." to talk to an assistant. He expected to be given a disposable mask. The assistant just shrugged and told him to just go and do his shop.

Hemsley for the diarrhoea there is something called Imodium capsules or instants you can buy OTC.

duffster so sorry for your loss i am going through this as well as my partner passed away with the virus there was a lot of underlying things though.

Hemsley if you have any concerns then 111 have an option which you can ring.

@Duffster I am so sorry for your loss and you getting the virus. I feel it is getting closer to home, one person we knew passed with it a while ago and now this week some people we have known all our lives have passed. I feel very shocked today and quite worried, I feel my family and I are being too lax. I'm locking down from now... scared.

Hey, so sorry for the delay in replying and I am sorry to hear your news about your mother. This virus is horrible.
I am ok now, not 100% but the worst is well and truly over. I hope you are doing ok now too.

Hi all, I just wanted to say thanks to those who replied to my post, to meant a lot. I am happy to say I am through the worst and on the mend. I have the odd ache here and there and am lethargic, but I am easing myself back into work as of today and my manager called me to say to do half days for the next few days.

Thanks again, you really are lovely and I am so glad I joined this site. I am just over 1 year in from type 2 diagnosis.
