Have had a check in call with a nurse in my unit, and have come away feeling really positive. She was really pleased with my levels at the moment and said well done for getting them consistently down to where they need to be. and also that she was really pleased with the effort that I'm putting in.

She is recommending that I start on the slow release Metformin so that I can increase my dose, and that if I can do that and keep my BG good, then I can stop my Glycazide, which I will really look forward to so I can start properly losing some more weight. A really good incentive.

I did not tell her about the cake I had yesterday :D

Hello Beck, glad you had a positive chat with your nurse. I had my first interaction today. I am on metformin 500mg SR which is sustained release and it is doing great overall and helps in weight loss too. Good luck.

Nice to hear you had a positive chat with your nurse it makes you realise everything you've been doing has been worth the effort well done, and the odd naughty slice of cake doesn't hurt lol. 🙂

Nice one, Beck.🙂

Absolutely no need to mention the cake Beck😉...what a difference it makes when you have a nurse who is positive about all the hard work you have put in to reducing those numbers...given you some credit...great news you may be able to stop the Gliclazide soon...agree that is a real incentive...you can do it...I've never taken it...I have heard it can lead to a weight gain...hopefully that is a issue you won't have to worry about for much longer...well done.

Great stuff @Beck S! Congratulations on the improvements you’ve made.

Hope this is the start of a good, supportive relationship with your nurse. The good ones make such a difference!

Well done on the positive outcome Beck. 🙂 Cake, wot cake?

Thanks all. I'm really chuffed with my progress and hope it continues. The nurse I spoke with is also diabetic so she knows where you're coming from.

Good luck to you too!
