Hi, I’ve just got into making poems from a perspective of a Type 1 Diabetic and how we can feel sometimes/all the time.

Afraid the print is too tiny and white text on a picture background just makes it impossible for me to read. Do bear in mind that many people with diabetes develop either temporary or sometimes permanent sight issues, so if we are your audience, making your work more easily readable will be important.

Our previous forum administrator @Northerner has written many poems about diabetes which have a very humorous approach. He shares them on the forum from time to time and I absolutely love them. I particularly like the witches brew/potion one about insulin. The wording is so clever. Not sure if I can find it but will have a look.

Dear Santa, I’m hoping that you read this list,
For I’m asking for something that lately I’ve missed,
It’s a thing called a pancreas, now I know what it’s for,
It’s something that I’d never thought of before!

I’ve got one that’s broken, and whoever would know
It was my dearest possession, and I do miss it so!
If you brought me a new one, with all working parts,
Then I could eat jellies and trifles and tarts!

I’d have roast potatoes, and parsnips as well,
But I’d lay off the sprouts (because of the smell!)
And after my turkey and cranberry sauce,
Why, then there’s the pudding –...

Also, many of the people on here (such as me) are older than an old thing and only have MS-DOS 😳

The former admin, Northerner, was a diabetic poet. His work should still be available on here. I remember one of his poems about Salmon Sperm ( originally used for its zinc content to enclose and slow down intermediate acting insulins).
