Saw my DN yesterday, got thru everything really quickly - even got a hug for my weight loss! Then she said "have we talked to you about your flu jab?". Errr - no.
Whilst she had me there she gave me the annual flu jab and then said she would also give me a 'once in a lifetime' pneumonia jab in the other arm. Lucky me! Big sore welt on that arm today and both arms hurt.:(
Anyone else heard of or had the one-off pneumonia jab? No one I've spoken to seems to be aware of it .......

Yes, had my flue jab today, and the pneumonia one 2 years ago. Arms a bit sore but no ill effects just yet. Fingers crossed.🙂

I did read somewhere that there is a jab, only given once, which people with diabetes should have but cannot for the life of me think what it was...have to do some checking... Amanda x 🙂

I've heard other members mention the pneumonia jab before, but I've never been offered it myself - hope the arm recovers soon! 🙂

Yeah had mine the same time ago as slipper, arm was slightly sore for about two days but then after that i was ok

I had the pneumonia one a few years back. It is meant to be a one in a lifetime jab unless you have had your spleen removed in which case it has to be repeated.

Had new moan jab about 3yrs ago & wouldnt go anywhere near it again becouse guess what happened about 6 months later !!!!!!! Well annoyed !! Got taken in to hosp for 6 weeks & couldnt walk up the stairs. Never been so ill. My 3yr old son got it & wife. Its suppose to be an anti !! 😡😡😡 Keep a check on yourself and dont hesitate to get some antbiotics if you dont feel good. It might be my luck but if u take an anti & never came across before ? 😱

I had the pneumonia jab 2 years ago, at the same time as my flu jab. It last 10 years apparently, then you have to have it again.

I've had two (pneumonia jabs) in my lifetime so far LOL

Once in the 1990's and another in the 2000's, so must be due another in the next 9 years ......

Had the Pneumonia jab 5 years ago, hope to get flu jab after getting bloods taken next week for diabetic check.

I've had a couple of pneumonia jabs over the years too. I suspect they don't actually prevent it but, much like the flu jab, may stop it from killing you. As I understand it, it isnt a 'disease' that's communicable but is caused by communicable infection. More of a reaction to an infection.

makes it worthwhile in my opinion, but up to the individual to judge the risk.🙂

I asked about the pneumonia jab and was told the surgery didn't stock it, never had, nurse didn't know why.
Went for flu jab yesterday. Nurse didn't initially believe I was eligible. Think it's because I was the youngest there. Why do I keep running into dipsticks?

As for running into dipsticks - well there are a lot of them about!!
😱
Well I guess I deserved that! Stick to be impolite in future ...

Just a question about the flu jab, which i have booked for tomorrow, but i've come down with a cold over weekend. Feeling a little under the weather will they still give me the flu jab?

Better to cancel it and make it later this week or the following week, if in doubt ring the practise.
