Please please please all check your Glucagon kits and that they are in date. It saved Rose's life last week after her bloods went too low in the night and she had a seizure. Without the injection, the unthinkable could have happened. It was scary giving it and my hands were shaking like a leaf but am so thankful we had it. This is the first time we have had to use it in 6 years of Rose being diagnosed :(

thanks for reinforcing that you can have an hypo at night although graham consultant said every diabetic child does NOT need to be tested at night !!!!!!😡

Absolutely Becca, very very crucial bit of kit for all Type 1 diabetics

(Sorry I have no idea if it is for type 2, purely my ignorance).

I have used this on my daughter as well and it saved her life as well.

Hypos with fits are very scarey :( , Glad Rosie is ok now 🙂

Well done on saving Rosie's life, I'm so glad Rosie is ok, it's all parents' nightmare esp now we were told not to test our children in the nights! I've ignored this advice and still check Carly at nights.
We have glycogen on hand in the fridge, in the car and one at Nursery 🙂 keep testing at nights, everyone x

Thanks for the warning, just checked mine and it's two years out of date so need to get one on next script.

Checked my wee one this morning at 3am and she was hypo, only a mild one at 3.7 but she went down with a reading of 9.0. I'm up before the alarm goes off now :D
Well done on your quick action x

Glad to hear Rose's ok now Becca, Hope you have recovered as well.
(((((((hugs)))))))

I only just got anew one after many years of not having one, never used it, but seen it used on my younger brother when he was a young child..........

Glad all is well............🙂

Nor me Shiv, my ones have usually been about twice round the world before they go out of date and get binned LOL - had a new one last year so I'm OK for a bit, though the last time Pete had to use mine was in 2005.

Likewise, have had a couple of glucagon jabs when younger. I used to fit beyond a certain threshold so always keep it to hand.

Will check mine later.🙂

ridiculous!! at night is the most serious...as when it's likely to go undetected and if the liver doesn't dump a whole load of glucose, coma is much more likely.

can't believe they said that 😱

parents, please keep testing at night (if you want to)....I still remember being half awake and my mum and test testing my blood for me in the middle of the night...and it never did me any harm! it wasn't all the time, but any changes in doses, or if I was ill etc....it's just not worth the risk not to test just to follow advice.
