After a really good hba1c result at my check I've decided to risk it! I want pizza. I react to all bread so far though if it gluten free below 10g of carbs a slice I seem to be just about spike free! So how can I make ( I know buying won't be an option!) my own, I pressume wraps but all the shop ones seem high. What do you use?

This recipe makes a decent pizza crust

Hi posted this in the food and recipes section https://pinchofnom.com/recipes/ you can search for low carb recipes.
Sainsbury’s veggie special magazine had a recipe for a cloud pizza dough in the summer issue that was low carb, think had cornflour in but could be wrong. I use pizza bread for small pizzas and see a low carb wrap mentioned in the forum food section, not tried them myself but worth looking at that post maybe?

Buy it and have a smaller portion? Have it after or before some exercise? Accept a bit of a spike occasionally?

It really affects me quite badly so I don't think option will work! Will have a look in thread mentioned thanks.

Maybe fat head pizza or a cheese waffle aka 'chaffle' base?

I would just go with my fave 650g cheese loaded pepperoni from Iceland. Hope that helps.

sugarfreelondoner web site has lot of low carb recipes both sweet and savoury so you may find something there.

Ok so this is a bit crazy but my lot love a dominoes. I have one with all the toppings but scrape it onto a salad , I call it a pizza salad it’s actually delish. The dog and kids eat my crust or you can have a ridiculously thin base from dominoes now. Warning though it’s expensive at dominoes so go on a 2 for Tuesday.

Alternatively beat and egg, some mozzarella and a spoon of almond flour and bake it as a pizza base for around 10 mins then add topping, not exactly a pizza bit worth a try.

Lastly carbzone make wraps that are 5g of carbs I believe. I have a pizza oven and when my lot have the normal ones I Chuck one of those in for myself with lots of toppings . I am on insulin but pizza and pasta are really difficult for me to navigate so I tend to avoid.

Ooh just remembered ketochefs do pizza bases. For me they had a bit of a garlicky taste which I’m not a massive fan of but others may be ok with.

Pizza Salad. I like that!

I've treated myself to a slice of pizza when on holiday (We went to Italy last year and the kids had pizza every night, apart from the night we went to a restaurant that did not have pizza on the menu. The kids asked for pizza anyway and got dirty looks and a 'We don't do that here.' They usually left a slice or two, so I may have, ahem, indulged. It didn't cause me any issue (I had a sensor on) and we were usually doing a lot of walking which I find keeps it down.

A friend of mine made a pizza base from chick pea flower which worked quite well.

Sadly, the 'lo dough' bases I used to use (Made from Konjac and other low carb stuff) are no longer available. The company wound down.

The mozzarella one sounds like fathead dough which I made for 1st time yesterday for sausage rolls, I can imagine it being good for pizza, that's next weekends trial!

Me too!

I get on OK with pizza with the benefit of rapid acting insulin and some trial and error, but that does sound lovely!
