Hi.

I like medium whole meal pitta breads (30g carb). This has never caused bg spikes before but recently they are.
About an hour after I e eaten them I go high and feel rubbish.
More and more foods appear to be doing this to me lately that I was fine with before. I'm getting extremely frustrated with it now

Does this happen to anyone else?

Is there a lower carb alternative?

There are some places that do low-carb tortillas - these have around >5g of carbs per wrap. It's not quite the same as a pitta but you can sorta use them in the same way. Plus they are absolutely fantastic if you are making enchiladas or fajitas of course.

Otherwise, another option would be to bolus earlier for the wholemeal wraps. It sounds like they're hitting your system before your insulin hits its peak, so an earlier injection might be able to keep better pace.

I've recently discovered Warburtons Brown Sandwich Pittas. The serving size is half a pitta, they're divided for easy separation of exactly half and already split for easy filling. They're big enough for a generous sandwich, at 15.1g carbs per portion.

Thanks leelee I shall try those.

Not always easy to bolus earlier when at work. Where can I get the low carb wraps from??
