Thank you everyone who supported me on my PIP journey. I can genuinely say that I was very honest with everything that was written and spoken for the assessment. I focused on what overall life was like for me rather than just bad days. But also that from as soon as I started the process it has felt like a very heavy cloud hanging over me and at times I was very tempted to withdraw my application.
I was there extremely happy when I checked my bank account this morning, when I was doing my 5am tablets, to find out that it appears that I've been successful and payment has appeared in my account. I'm still waiting for the full report which I requested a fortnight ago and the outcomes letter but I feel very relieved. I'm also extremely happy because of what it means for the Blue Badge which has been a lifeline since my council first gave it to me 18 months ago.
For anyone new reading this I would like to add that this was not for diabetes but for a a wide range of conditions that I've collected during the past few years and I found it emotionally exhausting. So I'm extremely happy about the outcome. Back to sleep now!

That must be a big relief to know it’s done with for now!

Such good news Amanda.

What a relief for you! It’s wrong that so many claims for benefits like this make people stressed. It’s one thing to check people are genuine but the process does seem unnecessarily difficult.

I’m very pleased you’ve been successful 🙂

Great news.

I've had a Blue Badge for 5 years and it's been an absolute godsend.

I get PIP (Living Allowance) for my MS and have applied 3 times for Motability but keep getting knocked back. I've gone to an Appeals Tribunal and they also knocked me back. Two friends' spouses have Motability and they both agree that I am worse then them.

So pleased and relieved for you Amanda. Well done for persevering with the process and I hope the payments enable you to have a better quality of life.

So pleased to read this, a huge weight off of your mind.

Brilliant news, Amanda!

All 'this' baffles me. During lockdown, OH who has COPD applied for a 'Blue Badge' online. Wanted to know what medication he needed for it, had to supply photographic proof it has been prescribed for him - ie a photo of his actual inhaler showing the brand with the dispensing label on it showing his name - and the badge came in the post within 10 days. A friend who's got curvature of the spine (it's literally S shaped) and a mobility scooter who lives in a different local authority applied at roughly the same time - and hers required several face to face interviews, consultants' letters, grandad's inside leg measurements etc - and took months!

A friend's father (now passed) had his badge taken away because when he went for the assessment being of a generation of 'always wanting to do your best' forced himself to walk the test distance when really he couldn't manage, heart condition and missing toes.

That’s good news. Anecdotally I’ve had fewer friends say they have been (re)awarded it first go round without needing to appeal since lockdown so hopefully things will carry on like that

When you next apply make sure you keep mentioning fatigue and how often you have to stop.

Having mobility on PIP does not always entitle you to a blue badge either, it depends on why you were given it it the first place.

You must have broken the world record for being paid PIP Amanda 🙂 it's been taking months for the claims to be sorted.

Im pleased to hear it was successful.

So pleased to hear you’ve been successful @AJLang. 🙂 It must be such a relief.

We all love my mum’s blue badge! 😉

Thank you very much everyone. I received the outcome letter today and overall I am pleased with what it says. It took five months from phoning up for the form to get the outcome but less than 3 weeks from the phone assessment to payment.

Pretty quick. Some people have been quoting 10 months from applying, so that’s great timing for you.

Glad you have the support you need @AJLang

Aaaaaand relax!

Thank you Mike. It is a relief for it to now all be sorted.
