hi all
I have been adviced by my GP to go on the pioppi 21 day diet, to lower my blood glucose levels but I'm not too sure about it.
Has anyone heard of this or tried it at all, is it good or bad?.

From what I can tell it is a version of the Mediterranean diet, low in refined carbs and sugars, with lots of veg, healthy oils and fish.

Personally I shiver slightly at any diet which promises the earth with a very short timespan - I think of diet as more 'what you eat'. And I think it's better to aim for something you can sustain longer term. Having said that... a short burst of intense concentration might yield good results as a start.

Might be worth giving a go?

My diet is not too bad at all, I never fry anything & portion sizes are small.
I personally think the GP I saw was trying to push this diet onto me thinking I was going to be gullible.
I am researching when time allows, but for now I am open minded.
I still think stress is a big factor to my raise in bg levels.
Everyone of us are different, so what works for one may not work for others.
Thank you for taking the time to reply to my question.

I saw this the other day, don't know about the miracle aspect & the advice to just do it for 21 days but certainly it's a promising start....

What I see is the promotion of a way of eating that's full of good, quality ingredients, this of itself is nothing but good..... as Mike said, looks like the Mediterranean diet. Forget about the 21 day aspect, think of it as a way forward in a new life.

One of the important parts about it for me is that it intentionally reduces the main culprit for increasing blood glucose - carbohydrates.

Many, many forum members find that reducing carbs is their best way to improve BGs. Give it a go and good luck with it!

And let us know how it goes - I'm sure your experience with it would be very interesting to others here.

Thank you mike & Martin for your replies.
You have both inspired me to start this pioppi way of living 🙂
I shall be keeping a log & will be reporting back as to how it's working. 🙂 🙂

I'm pretty sure the Pioppi way of life includes plenty of outdoor exercise, walking, gardening etc as well as Mediterranean diet. I'll also be interesting to read your experiences.

http://www.comune.pollica.sa.it/pagine/view_page.php?p=007 Pioppi is a district of Pollica and for the way of life, in 2010 the mayor was killed by mobsters.
From what I can read on the diet the Pioppi diet it's a type of mediterranean diet - I suppose if one start to eat a lot of vegetables, lowers the refined carbs, sugars and meat will follow a better diet in respect of the advertising diet...

By removing the 'cholesterol lowering' carbohydrates and going back to the way I ate when on Atkins I lowered my Hba1c 44 points in 80 days - I suspect that a lot depends on what you take out of the diet rather than what is left in, assuming that there is enough to sustain life left in the fridge and freezer once the change is made.
