Hi is anyone or has been on pioglitazone DR. is asking me to consider this drug
although it has side effects of bone fracture and increased risk of bladder cancer..
I would have to check my urine every day for blood... also the insulin I will be starting is a mix twice a day not sure what this is if anyone can explain as it only states on letter received after my hospital review....

Thanks in advance

A friend of mine has used it and, sadly it didn't work for her at all. She's the only one I've come across who has had it prescribed. She's on Victoza now.

Has your doctor explained why they think this is a good idea for you?

Hi Ally thanks for your reply...they think it will be good for me because other meds have had no effect on my levels ..but the risk of bone fracture, bladder cancer and all the other side effects really scares me ....tried victoza last year it did nothing apart from make me sick with lots of fatigue and aches persevered for 14 weeks but could take no more..hope you are doing fine 🙂

I hope it does work fr you lanzlady, I guess it is a case of being very alert to any side-effects and reporting them promptly. I had to read up on it, and I see it is 'Actos' and works by improving insulin sensitivity, so presumably reducing the amount of insulin you will need to inject.

Hi Northerner,
