Just a quick question - is pineapple a good or bad thing? Brought a classic fruit salad from the Co-op has a lot of pineapple chunks in but don't know if they are good or bad for a diabetic - very sweet. 🙂 Thank you. Amanda

Pineapple is medium GI (Glycaemic Index), which means it should be OK 🙂 As we have said elsewhere, only by testing can you be sure that you can tolerate it well, and in what quantities. I would really recommend getting a book about the GL Diet, such as The GL Diet for Dummies. Glycaemic Load is a practical way of applying GI rules to 'real life' food because it takes into account portion size when determining how it is likely to affect your blood sugar levels.

Sorry if this all sounds double dutch, but the book explains things much better and it's not as complicated as it sounds! 🙂
