Recently my blood glucose count went up to 16 sometimes 18 this is under 10 each morning I have been eating sensible even lost just under a stone in 5 weeks. But now i am suffering awfully with pins & needles in my hands legs & feet.
Have tried to get a phone appointment with the diabetic doctor but can only talk to other doctors who have given me pain killers which cut the intensity of pain but not stopped it.
Anyone have any tips to help me out with this problem it is affecting my mental health now.
Thanks for any help

Hi @Toonpig You mentioned probably having to start insulin a few weeks ago - has this happened yet? The pins and needles could be due to your high blood sugar, especially if it’s been high for a while. Getting it back into range might improve things.

Hi @Toonpig, welcome to the forum.

As kindly shared above, the pins and needles feelings does usually settle down as your numbers come back onto a healthy range.

For some, drinking plenty water helps too, so if possible, maybe give it a bit of time for your number to improve and see if it makes a difference.

with you having pins and needles you really need a f2f appointment with your doctors as it could be a sign of any thing going on. weight loss also seems staggering for 5 weeks.

Sorry to hear about the pins and needles, and how difficult it is making things for you. You need to look after your mental health.

Hope you can manage to speak to a specialist soon who can advise you.

If you have recently started on insulin this can sometimes trigger painful neuropathic symptoms, which are only temporary (though very uncomfortable while they last). But you really need to speak to a Dr about it to get the proper lowdown

There are medications to help but hopefully it is temporary as already said, its important
that you get help from a HCP (Health Care Professional) and get diagnosed correctly.

BGL`s need to be kept under strict control the higher the readings the worse it gets,
try to get your readings under 10mmol daily and nightly this should definitely help.

Take care stay safe if you need anymore info please PM me only to glad to help.

Welcome to the forum @Toonpig.

Thanks everyone for your help and suggestions. My GP phoned me today she has arranged for me to go on Dapagliflozin for a month to see if that helps. I will let yous know how things go over the coming weeks. Again thanks for all your reply
