Does anyone know if Pilates is good for diabetics? I have signed up to a gym and booked into a class next week. I have also booked two aqua aerobics classes. I want to try some of the more energetic classes but need to improve my lungs first so thought I will try the aqua for fitness and pilates for well being.

Will try and swim a couple of times a week, hopefully this will keep me on the wagon for my eating, which I keep falling off of at the moment by eating carbs.

I can't see any problem, in fact only good as any exercise is good for us (as long as we are physically able)

Any exercise that you can do and enjoy is good.

Any exercise is good and Pilates will be particularly useful to increase mobility. The aqua aerobics is great for all aspects of fitness as the resistance from the water increases the effectiveness of any work that you do. Also both are good fun.

I am not a great one for exercise and only went to the gym once and hated it so I joined a pilates course. It is really good as it does help with strength and although my BG shoots up after the class it does come down again, so give it a go. Never tried aqua aerobics but it should help too. It is important to choose something that you enjoy because you are more likely to keep at it. I do enjoy walking with my dogs and we do about an hour a day, although there is quite a bit of weemail reading goes on with my male dog, so not that fast. Considering getting an exercise bike as cycling around here is too dangerous because of the traffic. Hope you enjoy your classes 🙂

hi Grannylorraine - I pedal away on an exercise bike and that works for me - I started with 20 second bursts for 15mins then gradually increased this as and when my knees would allow. That reminds me - i must enrol on the Healthy Hearts sessions at the local swimming pool.

I love yoga and it's not a high stress exercise all about your bodies ability and trying but not pushing, that's why I like it.
Pilates comes from yoga so it's more energetic but the moves are good for your whole body.
Like anyone else all exercise is good for you and if you fine one you like your onto a winner xx
