I'm looking for advice please. I need to get more physically active because of my diabetes but I'm limited to what I can do a) because of having Chronic Fatigue Syndrome b) Not being able to walk for more than 5-10 minutes without needing to sit down due to chronic back pain/stiffness c) I can't get to a swimming pool apart from some weekends if I can get a lift, but last time I went I was exhausted after 7 short lengths due to the CFS.
I really would like some advice please.

How about some 'Chair aerobics' 🙂 If you can build up a bit more strength, stamina and fitness this way it may help you to do more in the way of things like walking 🙂

Any chance you can get a physio to visit? Might be a long shot, however sometimes you can actually get people to visit.
When I was under them for my heart, & not started rehab because waiting on an op, the physio came to me a few times & I could ring them. I had shown exercises to do. They'd then ring in a week or two. Then visited again after a month or two. The gaps got longer.

Try an exercise bike

Yoga at home from a dvd or YouTube might help with back pain a little and can help build your core without exerting too much at least initially.

Listen to your body though - 7 lengths is a start and it’s important that you don’t push too hard and end up making your cfs worse.

You can buy exercise dvds that section into ten mins which might be a good start too - they focus on different areas of the body so you could have a real variety.

I'm gonna give Chairobics a whirl. 🙂

Thanks Ralph for the suggestion. I've just looked self-referring myself for NHS physio and it's an 18 week wait and they won't come to my house. I have looked at private physio but can't really afford it because they've said that I will need to go for several months.

Could you try a mini walker/mini bike similar to an exercise bike but just the pedals part to use whilst sitting down at home. It doesn't take up much space and is a good way to exercise your legs without having to leave home.

Thank you Flower. I did try one of them before and because of my wonky legs (they are very wonky 🙂 ) I couldn't do it. But it's a great suggestion.

I've just done ten minutes of charobics - it was fun - but my legs are now wobbly :D

I found that an exercise bike is not that gentle an exercise.
Thank you Grovesy - I didn't want to confess that I already have a large exercise bike but a) due to my wonky leg it keeps turning in an catching b) after two minutes on the bike I'm shattered!!
Unbelievable that it wasn't that many years ago when I was walking Susie for an hour each day.

I'm sorry to hear that. I'd had the thought that the limit on walking would 'help' you. :(
Maybe check which centres they use. Physio I saw this year was in the local health centre (which also has my GP practice in). Which is close & easier than the hospitals & the physio centre. I think it's an outsourced company that now does some of the physio in my area. I had no problems with the chap I saw for my shoulder. (Again with gaps of 6 weeks/two months and exercises inbetween).

Thanks Northerner 🙂 I have to be so careful with the CFS, especially as I had a recent crash which I certainly don't want again - don't like spending the majority of day in bed.

Thanks Ralph it was a great suggestion. Here they only do NHS physio in the the town centre building which I can only get to by taxi. I was referred to them when the CFS was first diagnosed and the only recommendation was to halve my Susie dog walk and then they discharged me!! We don't have the greatest NHS service in my town.
