Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
OK, I’m not really a newbie. But I’ve been largely AWOL from the forums since Feb and I disappeared for a while before that too! (mostly as my old boss gave me grief about using the forums in work time). I see lots of new members joined, but also lots others still here (yay!)

As an aside; I used to play an online game called SecondLife between 2006 and about 2012. Having gone away form that for a while I went back online and pretty much all of my old friends are gone. Anyway back on track…

I’m diagnosed as a Type 2 on Metformin although I was fairly young at diagnosis and not obese. Diagnosed in 2011 and was strong and stable (sorry couldn’t resist) in the 5% club for some time. Recently, my HbA1c has been in the 6’s and having more of a struggle to keep it there. To add to the insult, my last eye test has shown some background retinopathy (hopefully if I get things back in control that will go away). I’ve got a strong genetic history of diabetes in my family.

Oh, I love the new patient record system that lets me query my test results going back 6 years 😉

Outside of diabetes, I like PDC Darts, MotoGP, Formula 1, Researching genealogy (which I’m back to the 1700’s) and reading books (particularly fantasy). I still like online games, although that’s generally restricted to Minecraft (as that is age appropriate for the little boy). I do like making the odd quiz, but apparently I make it too difficult for all of you 😛

I also get involved in promoting my wife’s business making jewellery, acting as her gopher to post parcels at the post office and being my little boy’s chauffeur.

Since things seem to be changing for me, I intend to spend a little more time here.

Btw; since that was the topic of when I was last more active. My nan died last month. It was both dry and wet gangrene caused by circulation issues. However, we suspect her somewhat out of control diabetes certainly won’t have helped.

Oh well, only about another 1200 posts to get into the top posters list!

Welcome back Mark

Good to have you back Mark.
Enjoy the festivities.
