Hi all, new to this forum, I am Type 2 Diabetes and I have had to give up on all my favourate foods with sugars. But I have found some that I can eat that is sugar free. Yay !.
Hi - but it's not just sugar itself you need to be careful with - it's carbohydrates in general that our bodies have trouble with, so sugar is merely one of those along with eg spuds, anything with flour in it (eg pastry and bread) rice, pasta etc too.
Protein and fats are mainly OK so that's meat, cheese, eggs, milk, cream, butter - all the nice stuff plus most veg other than spuds and parsnips.
Hi @Phineysaurus and welcome to the forum. How did you come to be diagnosed? Are you on any meds? Do you self test?
I am Type 2 too. Diagnosed last year and still learning what foods are OK for me by self testing. I have been lucky and had my meter prescribed by my GP. Got to keep checking for those pesky carbs!
Welcome again from another type 2, like the others have said, watch those sneaky carbs! Some great information on here with ideas for meals, things to avoid and loads of experience to be shared
