I'd struggle trying to accommodate that then. From whence can you obtain calcium and all the various trace elements and vitamins enzymes and 'stuff' (thinking of the 'good' cocktail of gut bacteria here too) with such restrictions?

I agree, unfortunately I also have the Barrett's as well, it seems it all comes together as a bargain offer!
One thing I have picked up from this forum is not to accept a prescription for Metformin under any circumstances, I know we are all different but I had an internal haemorage a couple of years ago, it took three months to get a colonoscopy by which time the radiographer told me as I had no further trouble it was probably a waste of time as they would not find anything unless it was very serious, happily they didnt.
My consultant has told me not to eat anything that would upset the diverticulitis and risk another haemorage as they don't know what caused the last one, I also have to keep a supply of antibiotics with me although so far touch wood I haven't needed them, what ever happens I must beat this with diet.
Basically like all of us diabetes I need like a hole in the head!

Hi Jenny,
Fish, chicken, skimmed milk any live yogourt such as the low fat daily actimel,
basically nothing with "hidden" fat.
Luckily we are country people no take aways or fast food for us, live too far from civilization so everything is cooked from fresh using mainly what we grow ourselves or can buy at the farm gate.
I didn't have an unhealthy diet but my downfall was sweets and sugar in drinks rather than cakes and biscuit.
I still cannot abide sweeteners but will have to get used to then.
I also make my own jam and marmalade, any offers for a cupboard full
