A couple of weeks ago i was told by my doctor that i had a suspected DVT in my leg - luckily tests showed it was negative. i went back to the doctors a week later with my leg still in a bad shape and was sent for an x-ray. it came back as a fracture to the talus (ankle bone) and severe arthritis in my foot.

so God only knows where i go from here - the hospital told me to wear my air cast but its been 5 weeks since the pain started so i'd assume i'm already starting to heal - and not only that but i've also been walking around on a broken bone for over a month.

oh and i also have charcot in my talus bone too!

as the cool kids say #FML :D

in other news - blood test today (i'm sure they are hurting less) and DN next wednesday.

Oh Simon, good news and bad eh? Very sorry to hear about the broken ankle, and Charcot's and arthritis to go along with it. :( I hope the tests give you some better news, I really feel for you mate. Have they suggested any form of treatment, other than wearing the cast?

Simon , i hope you ankle starts to feel better soon 🙂

Northerner - sadly they havent so i dont know what the hell to do, i read online that injuries like this need to be operated on and you cant use the leg for 3 months - which is stupid :( i'm hoping it'll heal it self and i can return to some form of normality 🙂

Jennywren - thank you Jenny i'm sure it will :D

Is it your GP that has left you without really knowing what to do? I'd ask for a second opinion or ask to be referred to a specialist if so. People really shouldn't be left feeling they have to look stuff up themselves when given news like this.

well the GP called me in after my xray results came back and told me about the break, he told meto wear the air cast. I was also contacted by the fracture clinic. the doctor there told me the same thing the gp did but showed me the xray. he wants me to come back for a CT scan - but didnt say when. to be honest as always i feel i've just been left high and dry (or in my case low and wet :D )

I would go back to the GP and find out when you can expect the CT scan, and I also wonder if there is someone else you can see given that this is not a simple fracture, but combined with the Charcot's and arthritis. A simple broken ankle is no big deal in the scheme of things, but may need more specialist knowledge with the other problems present. Is the break due to a weakened bone because of the Charcot's? At the very least your GP should be able to give you a timescale for the scan so you would have one less thing to wonder and worry about.

i've got an appointment with my GP soon so i'll discuss it with him :D i'm quite shocked really that i even managed to break my ankle also annoyed that no one told me i had arthritis even though it was on my notes :(

Good it's not DVT, not so good it is other things.

I hope you get things sorted and are on the mend soon
