I made no assumptions what so ever. 😡
All I have done is spent MY time finding info for YOUR benefit with the hope that YOU can move forward.
Any suggestion/ideas though are thrown straight back at anyone and everyone :(

Unless you explain what is going on how do you expect people to help you?
I am sorry but in my eyes you are being very unfair.

I have not thrown any suggestions back at anyone! I have just pointed out whether or not I have tried them or if they would be viable for me. I have looked on INPUT I am trying to build a list of consultants. You did assume things about me that were unfair, maybe I read into it wrong if I did I am sorry about that. But sometimes there a things in peoples lives outside of there control that they can not help, that is my private life I would be happy to discuss those things with you away from the forum but not for all and sundry to see (sorry if anyone takes offence at that!).

I appreciate you used your time but the way you put somethings was a bit harsh and can be hurtful. And they upset me.

OK. Hertfordshire is a big county - people from Royston in the north regard Addenbrookes in Cambridge as their local hospital, whereas the south of the county eg Cheshunt is virtually part of London; Baldock, Letchworth, Hitchin, Stevenage are all near to Luton & Dunstable; Welwyn Garden City, Hertford, Hatfield and St Albans are all within reach of Watford.

Transport is an issue, but with a combination of public transport eg http://www.transportdirect.info/ and use of a bike for short distances eg http://welwyngardencity.cyclestreets.net/ or other Cyclestreet hompages linked from http://www.cyclestreets.net/area/ Some buses DO allow you to take a bike onboard - just yesterday, I travelled between Cambridge & Bedford return on X5, and saw at least 2 regular bikes [not folding bikes] in the hold each way.

Most hospitals do have travel pages on their websites with advice about transport links - and some have travel co-ordinators on the end of phone or email.

Hope some of this helps you find a hospital you can reach - the nearest isn't always the easiest nor quickest to reach.

Hi Copepod, Thanks for that, I am at St Albans at the moment but Hatfield is really not to far not sure about the QEII though will have to have though look. Watford already refused me as they are way over booked. The only one my GP said I could go to way the L&D and they may not except on grounds they don't have any spaces for out of area patients. Go to the L&D for my eyes check ups and apart from the waiting have always been impressed.

St Alban's is really easy to get too, the bus stops 2 minutes away from me then right outside the hospital and its the same from Hemel, Hatfield and Stevenage. L&D is a bus then coach ride but its only once a year so its affordable.

I guess I am no longer welcome here anymore so I will say goodbye. Thanks for all your suggestions will be looking into INPUT further.

hi i do understand how you feel last year we have been rfused by brighton hospital the dietitian and consultant are fab then i give up because i was pregnant and now we have been accepted at UCLH london and we have to pay for all our transport but for graham and his care we have to we are lucky that we have a very good GP and he refered graham every time i ask him to although the secretary consultant could do it but she refused so i dont really know what generally everybody does but it does not mean that if you have the right to choose your specialist they have to see you like in our case !!!!! is not so easy!!!

Hi Koko

you are more than welcome here. I can understand that you don't feel like posting but you can just browse and do searches on the subjects that you are interested in. You may find some information to help you. Good luck with your appointment at the Drs.

O dear Koko I really hope you are still looking at the forum and that you do not leave. All the people on here, I'm sure, have your best interests at heart and all anyone wants to do is help you. It is such a shame that you have gone through all the things you have had to deal with and I wish you luck and health in the future.

Thank you everyone, I really do mean that. I just have been through an incredibly emotionally draining two years and an very, very fragile at the moment. I came on hoping it would help me to get through that I just don't think I am ready for that yet. I am petrified of people being horrible to me, I have been through years of bullying and am very sensitive to anything that could be seen as a judge of character and could make people dislike me.

MeanMom I have no idea why you chose that name you are so lovely as is Northerner and others who's name I have just this minute completely forgotten. I will try to pop in once in a while and say hello.

Thank you Margie yours way the other name I totally forget! Thank you for being kind and understanding like I said before I will try and pop in and say hello every so often. 🙂

Hi Koko

I'm really glad that the transport advice was helpful - hope it will encourage you to stay around, as we really do want you to stay 🙂

Hi Rob

I'm not sure what the petition will do either just feel I need to do something. Not long before I was diagnosed you couldn't get pen needles on the NHS when they cost almost the same as syringes there was a rally in London and soon after that pen needles were available.
I will be speaking to my local MP who before the Tories came to power was shadow secretary for health so I am hoping he will be able to give me some advice.
Not much possibility of changing surgeries at the moment but it is something I am going to look into. The really annoying thing is I actually really like and trust my GP, this is the first time I have ever had a problem with her and she's sworn her hands are tied. So I am just knocking on any door possible at the moment.

Hi Koko!

I had a similar problem a while ago - I'm on a pump & need to test 8-10 times a day if I'm doing things properly 😱 After being more or less accused of running around testing random people by my GP surgery's 'dsn' (Ha, specialist my bum!) I wrote to my MP, asked her to ask the health secretary if there were plans/rules to restrict consumables to t1 diabetics - she did, and got quite apologetic replies back from both the health sec'y and local PCT head - and strangely enough, no problems with consumables since... 🙄 definitely worth doing, blooming annoying that we should ever have to though!

Good luck! x

Jesus! How did you react to that 😱 ??

Really annoying! I've already drafted a letter to my MP. 5 boxes is still only half of what I was getting before so still not 100% happy about it.
My Pharmacist said only 2 in 100 who complain will get what the want, its dreadful! And with new DVLA rules you have to wonder if its just a coincidence!

Beginning to think I was a bit hasty 😱 will stick around and see how it goes 🙂

Thanks guys 🙂

Suffering bullying is no fun and sometimes innocent things can make you think its happening again - I speak from experience.

Remember though that normally its because the bully sees you as a threat in some way, it could be that you are more popular or brighter but its generally their sense of insecurity that does it.

Misunderstandings often occur on forums, people speed read and miss words, people type and accidently leave out a word or write something which could be taken more than one way. Hope now that you have decided to give things another go you can find the information you are after,

I'm sorry you have been through bullying to. I've been through years of it and am now scared to walk out the front door on my own. I don't like admitting that to anyone but that's the crux of it. I was bullied a secondary school and left when I was 15 because of it. I was lucky I was offered an extended work experience placement and home tuition and thrived in the office and loved my job and thought wahey no more bullying! But then my second, third, forth and fifth job it happened again. I was called a dog across the office and liar when I wasn't lying and so many people could back that up yet only one person did and she too ended up being bullied. I'm on anti-depressants because of it and really don't no what to do or where to turn. I don't no why I am telling you this I'm sorry to burden you with my c**p! I guess I just want people to understand.

Oh I really didn't mean for that to sound like anyone was bullying on here just that I am over sensitive to certain things. One of my old consultants would say to me at every appointment "if you don't or won't help yourself no one else will" at the same time me and my mum were screaming out to have my hormones tested and they said no every time. I was doing constant BM's like I am still and my mum was watching every single injection that I did not because she didn't trust me but so she could say she knew 100% that I was doing my insulin properly and not messing around with the units and the outcome was still the same. It even was the same while on an insulin infusion in hospital my BM's still peaked and fell like they did at home did have slightly better control on the insulin infusion it got rid of the DKA but at the time was no info at all on PCOS and the affects that it has on T1.
Yet now it is proven that synthetic insulin can be a large contributing factor to developing PCOS.
I spoken to diabetics in the states who have told me if a teenage T1 female is having problems with her control and looks like it is not her fault one of the first things they test for is PCOS.
I did used to be on the pill to control my erratic periods and acne (a symptom of PCOS) and it did help a little but then I developed a DVT in left leg so had to stop taking.
The slow release metformin is certain something I am going to ask about.
