So to add to my thread:

I went ahead and bought this one which is very basic and just records how many steps you do
http://www.chemistdirect.co.uk/omron-hj-005e-vital-steps-step-counter_1_2006.html#2006

bearing in mind that it's just
"to give me an idea of when or which days I'm more active and to maybe pinpoint some of the odd hypos i get here and there" - a little addition - it's also really to help me get into the habit of not just noting food in my D diary but also to add activities.

I clip it onto my trousers/shorts whilst going about daily activities during the day however I'm always conscious that I've got it clipped to my trousers/shorts and have no routine with it at all ie when to put it on and when to take it off. My evening are mostly spent sat down watching tv.

Can anyone suggest a routine for me please?

Keep it next to your hairbrush/watch/glasses so you don't forget to put it on in the morning?

Well, you are looking at what days you are more active, so maybe if you record the count every morning when you put it on and only take it off when you go to bed?

You would need to keep a log of what you have done that day too so you can cross compare even if that log is "sat down and watched TV".
