I knew that peanuts aren't technically nuts, but Alan S's comments on his page have made me wonder whether they are nutritionally that different, so that they are not a suitable snack for diabetes sufferers? I do like to mix a few in with my other nuts...

According to this website they are 53% fat and 15% carbohydrate. Looking at brazil nuts, they are 66% fat and 12% carbohydrate.

p.s. I do not vouch for the verisimilitude of that website! 🙂

Peanuts are fine to eat in small amounts but just be careful as they are high in calories due to their fat content, the fat is monounsaturated and isn't harmful to your health but being high in calories they can cause weight gain in ample amounts so just be careful.
