After eating copious amounts of peanut butter (yum) I decided to try almond butter. Does anyone know why almond butter is so expensive? The positive side to this change is I weighed myself today and lost a pound (not a lot I know),but because almond butter is so expensive I eat much less than the cheaper peanut butter!

California produces around 80% of the worlds almonds and there's a drought, that's why almond products are far more expensive xx

I buy nuts whole, from Grapetree when they have offers on, and then process it myself - I have kitchen 'toys' and the Bamix with accessories is very useful. I do flour mostly, but I think that 'butter' just needs a bit of oil and some longer processing.

Have you tried the nuts from Lidl?
I find them cheaper than many places.
I don't shop in Lidl often but always stock up on nuts when I do.

I buy almond butter and nuts from Lidl which as you say are way cheaper than anywhere else.
