Ok since becoming pregnant I've found that my body can eat pasta and rice again without the highs for hours afterwards yay! Anyway so last night i fancied some pasta (dried) and some sauce.

So I look up the carb content in the collins gem book thing and it said 18g of carb per 100g. I thought that seemed awfully low. Means i'd only need 3.6 units of insulin for 200g. So I looked on the packet of the pasta and it says 36g of carb per 100g. Talk about a huge difference! I double checked the book and it def says cooked pasta, as does the packet. It was penne pasta dried.

Anyway i erred on the side of caution and used the packet measurements and lo and behold I was under 6 all night.

I can't believe it can be so off. In the book it says, Dried pasta, any type, per 100g. Don't feel I can trust this book now.

The only thing I can think is that it does say cooked weight. The Calorie Bible lists dried pasta as 72.8% carb, don't know what it weighs cooked, probably a lot more. Make your own it's dead easy and is really tasty , it's only eggs and flour so you can work out the carbs easily.

My opinion when counting carbs is to use the packaging, always, the books that are out now are good for eating out but its always a guess when your out anyway, if your in the house you can work out the exact amount.....🙂
