Panicking

Yes Kaylz - but there are spikes and then there are spikes - one of the crucial things is how long the spike lasts, surely? And how often you have them. If you have one spike a week lasting for 15 minutes, or one lasting for 6 hours? 7 a week of either?

And at what point does a spike start? 10? 15? 20?
I don't like to go above 10 personally but then I think I'm extra cautious and a little stricter due to having problems so early on so that's partly my problem, if I hadn't had those then I might be able to relax a little xx

Morning all.
I took my reading this morning and it was 7.8 then had two weetabix and some skimmed milk. Two hours later reading were 10.1. Does this mean I can no longer eat weetabix. Thanks in advance
Your problem is to do with starting at 7.8 before you eat and you need to figure out how to get that down a bit.
Your weetabix is fine by the looks of it and personally I would continue with that if you enjoy it.
You can minimise spikes by going for a brisk 30 minute walk after letting your meal settle.
There's a range of advice for you on this thread. A lot of people who are type 2 become quite evangelical extreme low-carbers and it clearly works for them but there are other paths for people to take. It's worth mentioning that because it can look a bit overwhelming at the start. You will learn what works best for you in time.

In my opinion, ypu certainly shouldn't be overwhelmed or panicky about the numbers you have quoted. Those numbers will come down with time.

I'm a type 2 who is a bit keen on low carb, but I eat only 40 gm of carbs a day and can't get my Hba1c to go below 42.
I suspect Type 2 Diabetes is actually just the name given to a number of similar results from various problems - which is why it seems some can eat some types of carb and others react badly to any high carb food.
My limit was 8mmol/l after eating when I was fine tuning my menus, I so wanted a Hba1c in the 30s, but it was not to be. Once I gat 8 the numbers reduced to below 7 - and I still stuck at 42. Ho hum.

That was what I thought too - it didn't seem like too big a rise from the meal @Overwhelmed

If those were my results I'd be pretty happy to continue with Weetabix (sadly it actually acts like rocket fuel for me)
