adding to this discussion, i have a lump (looks like a bunion) on the side of my foot where my little toe is, do you reckon this could be a sign of this neuropathy?

also do diabetics qualify for free chirpodists (spelt super wrong) appointments

I always get cramp in the bridge of my feet as well, is any of this reversable through long periods of stable control? i'm getting worried 😱(

Neuropathy means "nerve pain", so lumps are usually caused by something else, although can appear in the same feet at the same time.

I guess that access to free chiropody / podiatry services is different in different areas, so best ask your diabetes team - if appropriate, they will tell you how to get referred.

you should be able to get podiatory appointments if you need them, they will probably assess and see if you need any ongoing treatment or monitoring. I was seen and discharged but my GP is going to re-refer me as I have developed blood blisters on both my feet.

I have quite severe peripheral neuropathy and have access to the podiatrist, however, it's down to me to contact them for my annual checkups.

In addition I have lumps on my heals which to my GP, diabetologist and podiatrist are a mystery, next stop is a trip to a dermatologist to identify them.

Best to get things checked out, especially with nerve damage on a regular basis.

Foot pain

I had a problem with my foot, tingling when I touched the top of it right to the tip of my toes. I got quite concerned and telephoned my DN,leaving a message on her answerphone. A week later I telephoned again, she said she had rung me back, but she heard the number wrong and just left a message on somebody elses phone. Anyway after weeks of worry her advice - get your diabetes under control. A great help - not. The tingling is still there but does seem to be lessening.

Now I think I have a corn on the ball of foot which is painful when I walk - is it right that I should not use corn plasters? Do I need to see a chiropodist and should this be arranged through my GP or Diabetic Clinic?
