For the past three days I have been suffering with the worst upper abdominal pains, unable to eat much and feeling sick :(. I have been taking the medication prescribed to me but it doesn?t seem to be helping this time whereas it does usually. I have managed to get an appointment with my GP tomorrow morning so am going to go along to see if there is anything else I can try and also to see what he says as I have never had a definite diagnosis, they still say ?probably gastroparesis?.

My BG has been higher than usual too ? went up to 20 when the pain first started and has remained high for the past three days, averaging around 14. I have also been feeling really hot, although my temperature is not raised, not sure if that is a symptom of gastroparesis? It may just be a reaction to the pain I guess. The pain seems to be the worst symptom for me although I?ve read that it is not usually that apparent in gastroparesis.

Sorry for the rambling!

Don't worry about rambling. I hope you feel better soon and the doctor is able to help. I hate those diagnosis where it is 'probably' this or that or whatever. My doctor is good at those too unless someone else like the occupational health doctor pushes him.

At the risk of appearing indelicate what has your poo been like? It will be worth mentioning if it has been any different to normal, also anything else like feeling hot and if you have been extra sleepy.

No change in that area. I do suffer from IBS too but that's quite stable at the moment - thankfully!

Sorry to hear this newbs, I hope you can get a more definite diagnosis and some treatment to relieve the pain. I didn't think that gastroparesis was particularly painful, just a big problem with digestion, although I may be completely wrong.

I echo what Northerner just said, I mean I thought the whole gastroparesis 'thing' was about stomach emptying, so would have thought any pain was going to be a bit lower down that that?

I know it's horrible - but have you had the dreaded cameras? - or even an X-ray, not to mention a scan?

I have had an endoscopy and recently my gp said that this showed motility problems, although I was told all was 'normal' at the time. I also had a colonoscopy and u/s scan a few years ago. I would prefer to know what is going on for definite, I don't want to regularly take medication for gastroparesis if that is not what is wrong.

I just hope the pain eases soon and things settle for you. Surely they could do a proper test for that and put you out of your misery. poor you, feel better soon.

Could it be gall stones or gall bladder trouble?
I hope you feel better soon.🙂

Saw my GP this morning. He has now increased the Omeprazole and Domperidone and started me on Rinitidine too! I'm not that happy about the amount of pills I have to take but if it takes away the pain I guess it's worth it. He is concerned about the fact that the pain and nausea has resulted in being unable to eat a lot and I have lost quite a lot of weight so now bordering underweight. Have to take these tablets and go back to see him in a week. If it doesn't settle he wants to do another endoscopy 😱.

I hope things settle down for you and that you wont need another endescopy.

Thank you Caroline 🙂
