hello I work 12 hour day shifts, and have to loose weight to improve my life and my diabetes, what do other people take for pack up instead of bread TIA

Chopped up salad with just a tiny bit of vinaigrette used to work for me. Meat, fish, hard boiled eggs and then things like lettuce, tomatoes, spring onions, pepper, whatever takes your fancy.

More for when the weather turns colder, but I used to like to take hot soup. I had a soup shaped thermos flask thing which seemed to keep it hot for hours - or even easier to warn up if you have access to a microwave.

As well as soup and salads mentioned, I sometimes take unsalted nuts or cheese in. I weigh them before I take them so I know exactly what I'm getting. For someone whose body is very carb-averse, I can manage a couple of wholemeal crackers without spiking, so cheese and bikkies feels like a special treat.

On another forum several folks used to make ‘tortilla’ a sort of sliceable set omelette combining eggs and veg (and anything else that takes your fancy!).

This can be made up in advance, sliced, and just grabbed from the fridge. The eggs mean that it is very filling and will keep you feeling full and satisfied for ages 🙂

You can make them the size n shape of cupcakes too - yum!

Sometimes I use ham / meat in place of bread or a wrap.
Corned beef with soft cheese in is very tasty

I like Ryvita (sesame seed ones about the lowest carb - 6g each) but take them dry and the filling in another tub, add the filling in great dollops, or scoop it up with the Ryvita a mouthful at a time - oh - open sandwiches, not between 2 slices LOL

Salad at the moment, with variety from: hard boiled eggs, tuna mayo, small piece of cheese, coleslaws, salami, corned beef.
I will start making soups as the weather gets colder.
I did make some Keto flatbreads using coconut flour which were ok and would be good with salad or soups? Lots of recipes online for these.

Boiled eggs in the shell are a great little snack too. My friendly recently bought some on a picnic and this just reminded me.
