Some of you may recall I was diagnosed with Macular Oedema earlier this year and finally received an Ozurdex injection on late August. For about a week after I had a black cylindrical floater but cannot remember it disappearing. A check last month showed the fluid in the back of the eye had dispersed and s further check arranged for January next. However on Monday the Ozurdex floater reappeared. It is somewhat thinner and slightly curved. It tends to appear when I look down or lie down. Has anybody experienced this? It is quite irritating!

evening @MikeyBikey
Floaters are annoying yes (I’ve a few) have a few hard to say how many because mine come and go
think I’ve had them about few years now
but glad the Ozurdex might’ve helped you as it sounds like it’s anti-inflammatory effect has possibly helped the retina
didn’t realise until I just read your post you had Ozurdex popped in your eye

Checking back I see I did not update my original thread

after appointments were really messed around. But I did mention it recently although I think it was late August in the end!

Ugh - floaters are really annoying. Hope this sorts itself quickly.

Was there any particular reason why Ozurdex rather than Eylea or similar? Just interested because even tho my DMO has resolve I guess it could recur & maybe Ozurdex would become an option for me.

It's really annoying - it disappeared over a week ago and then reappeared yesterday as if it had gone for a cruise to a far flung corner of my eye!

I’m not sure in the case of MikeyBikey why his consultants felt Ozurdex would be the appropriate treatment,
but for me I had an Ozurdex injeted into my my right eye in the summer this year
because, they had already tried originally Lucentis then Eylea then Vabysmo (on both my eyes over the last 10 years)
then the consultant asked if I would be happy to have Ozurdex
o and I nearly forgot when I first discovered I had problems with my vision they tried laser treatment to my left eye, but soon after both eyes started being treated by the various

I’m sure Ozurdex until recently wasn’t used unless the person needing it had already had cataract surgery and a low risk of glaucoma, unfortunately in my case the Ozurdex implant hasn’t done all it should do

@Eddy Edson Im sure if you keep a good control on your levels
also attend your screenings you will benefit from good eye heath and reduce the risk of any future problems developing

Sorry to hear you haven't gotten this fully sorted - sucks!

I got lucky & had a good response to Eylea. But even with all risk factors under conntrol DMO can still be an issue. I have this image of microaneurysms left over from when my T2D and BP were out of control, which can randomly start leaking gunk for no apparent reason. That's what happened when I originally developed DMO (well after I'd zapped my T2D) and I have a number of other old microaneurysms in the right position to potentially cause probs if they start to misbehave. So I go see the ophthalmologist every 3 or 4 months.

I had cataract surgery (both eyes four months apart) in 2006. Eye pressures have always been fine. I wonder if it linked to the sage of Ophthalmology appointments when in the spring after the tests there was no consultant and I was meant to go back in two weeks that became 10 then had to go back again as no "injector" that day. It feels to me like they are fire fighting after the split appointment saga. Time between Ozurdex injections should be far longer than say Eylea. I am back for a check next month. Waiting for transport to foot clinic - I feel "topped and tailed"! 🙂
