Hi does anyone know if Oxford vaccine affects sugar levels, for type 1 diabetics, or ketones, as already had problems with ketones as I said on earlier post, just wondering? Thank you as I had mine yesterday because I work in care home. And levels blood sugar/ketones worse that ever tonight.

Any of the vaccines can cause BG to go up, after all it causes the immune system to wind itself up which it normally only does when we have an injury, infection, trauma etc ie some sort of inflammation of a bit of us somewhere, even when we can't see the inflamed bit.

T1 friend in Cornwall just asked me if mine had increased and no it hasn't. But having said that, about a fortnight after I tested positive for Covid in December, my BG shot up ridiculously until the new year.

So I really really do believe 100% that we all have to wait and see what happens, as I also very sincerely doubt every one of us will react the same.

Er, you are drinking as much plain tap water as you can, as well as taking corrections doses, aren't you?

Hi yea I do drink water every time I get ketones, and correction dose if sugar high, but I get ketones when sugar is normal more often thanks for reply.

the oxford / astra vaccine comes with a host of side effects and i suggest if you are not sure then to have a chat with your doctors only if you have had an invite for the vaccination.

i have found out i am not allowed the vaccine as i suffer with terrible migraines along with a host of allergies so have to wait for a safer one to come out. i only found out when i was invited.

for anyone i strongly suggest enquiring when the time comes which vaccine you might be having so that you don't run in to troubles like one of our neighbours did.

people who do enquire might find out how much of a brick wall they find i did.

I didn't know about any side effects, and Mr Marten and I had the first jab of the Oxford vaccine a couple of weeks ago. I didn't have any problem with it, though Mr Marten had a quite sore arm for a few days.

The invitation came from our surgery of course.

I think for both the current kinds of vaccine they're being very cautious, and recommending that people with a history of serious allergic reactions shouldn't take them.

(I'd hope they'll relax that later. I'm sure many such people won't end up having a reaction, and that even those that do will just need their usual treatment, so it's more a question of doing the vaccination where really good care (including time) is available. I remember listening to an interview with someone running a specialist vaccination group who'd give vaccinations to people allergic to eggs and the like, and talking about how some of them were in tears of gratitude at finally being able to get the vaccinations they wanted (and so could then travel or whatever).)

Hope you get an invite for the vaccine @Annette Arundell - and that it doesn’t cause you amy problems.

Fingers crossed!

But do ask at your appointment and chat through your concerns before you get jabbed 🙂

Hi I had Oxford vaccine on Tuesday as I work in a care home, I did feel a little sick after, for a day, which went with all my other problems, but glad I had it, relieved, as I had covid in December, they talk through everything with you, and give you written info to take away.
