Hello there, I know that as a type I diabetic that I'm entitled to a free eye test but can I get an Optitians voucher to help with the cost of glasses..? I'm currently too ill to work at the moment due to severe depression and am receiving Incapacity Benefit so I don't qualify for any help for dental treatment or Optitians vouchers through my IB.

I got myself a form called a HC1 from the Optitians and on the front page it says that I don't need to fill in the form if I'm 'named on, or entitled to, an NHS Tax Credit Exemption Certificate'.

I'm a bit confused, is this the same thing as a medical exemption certificate that let's have free prescriptions or something else..?

Many thanks in advance for any help.

Ah, okay. Looks like I'll have to fill the form in then, thanks for letting me know.

I believe you can get a voucher... I think they cover things like Incapacity, Jobseekers etc. I got one for being on JSA, so give it a try 🙂
