After my moan this morning about my 11.7 (from memory) I appear to have gone the wrong way...

Had 3 slices (mini loaf) seeded batch bread with 2 poached eggs for my breakfast at around 9am.

Just got back from shopping 3.30pm feeling shaky, clammy etc, tested and now 4.7. I thought 4 was a "normal" level so wondered why I felt odd? Could it just be because i have become used to such high levels? I have eaten a couple of jelly babies and will test again in another 15 mins to check its back up a bit.... Going to make a sandwich or eat a piece of burgen bread to keep me on track.

Grrr I am never going to get used to this - how can it change so much!!!

You've got it exactly right Emma - it's because you're not used to being at that level. 🙂 Be careful not to eat too much carb or you'll just go straight back up again - you only need a little bit of something to raise your levels a little and make your brain relax 🙂

This will happen less and less as you become used to it. Celebrate it as a sign that your levels are improving! :D

Waiting to test again before I eat anything. At least then I know I'm back on my way up (a bit).

I am due lunch so will make something, perhaps a ham salad rather than anything carby and see where that puts me. If i feel shaky again, I'll have half a slice of bread and check levels again.

I know its still all new to me, and I have only got T2, but do you ever get used to this? :(:(

It will get easier Emma, I had a terrible time for the first 4 months I reckon with highs(for me) and trying to get things sorted, you will get into a routine in time and will know instantly how to deal with things, its not easy but perseverence usually pays off hun

P.S Please dont underestimate type 2 its might be lower then 1 numerically but is just as important.

Steff's right Emma, all types of diabetes present difficulties to overcome, sometimes the same ones, and sometimes different ones. In a year from now you will feel very differently about it all I'm sure 🙂 I think that in the first few months after I was diagnosed it was the first time in my life I realised just how complex the human body is, and how much we take for granted when we are healthy (or think we are healthy!).

hi emma. 4.7 is good. you need to find something that will raise your bg by about 1 or 2 and maintain for say an hour or 2or untill your next meal. a couple of biscuits or packet of crisps. i would only go for sweeps if i was below 4. you should also try and find out how quickly you bg drops, thiswill depend on what you are doing, driving drops me fairly quickly for instance but only by about 1-2 in an hour.
