I can't believe it. For the first time in over 3 years I forgot to take my lantus last night 😱 Despite that I woke to a 6.2 this morning. I'm now wondering whether to take a reduced dose or not.

I would defo take a reduced dose. Cuz if not you'll probs end up super duper high

Oh dear first time for everything. You could try a reduced dose for a couple of days and see how you get on.

Great number tho x

Oops to forgetting the lantus. Wow to the 6.2. Guess you will have to do a lot of testing today and bolus as appropriate. If you take a reduced dose of lantus this morning you could end up with too much lantus circulating tonight after you inject your evening dose

Strange you should miss your dose completely as I nearly did the same. Came in from work and always inject my basal then, wife side-tracked me and I completely forgot and it wasn't until 8.30 that I realised my mistake, I was hesitant injecting as I was questioning myself if I had indeed forgotten to inject earlier:confused:

When missing a dose completely the advise I was told was to inject half the dose the following morning so you don't get to much of a overlap with the evening dose.

Oops!
Carol did that once, but she wasn't as lucky as you. She felt awful and her blood was in the 20s.
She injected half her dose in the morning. That worked well for her.

Still not sure whether to take some lantus. I know I should have half a dose, but just tested 2 hours after breakfast (same bolus as normal) and I'm 6.5...

I'd be tempted to treat it as an experiment and keep going until you see a rise. You could always correct with novo until the lantus kicked in.

Would be a good way of seeing how much residual function you have.🙂

Just what I was thinking Rob! 🙂 But have just tested and I'm up to 7.7, which I know isn't hugely high, but I would have normally expected upper 4s or low 5s at this time so I've taken a half dose of lantus.

Well, it looks like I got away with it. I was 7.1 before bed - remembered my lantus! - and woke to 7.5 this morning which is a bit on the high side for me but better than having night hypos and fairly steady overnight. Phew! 😱 🙂

Phew, All's well that ends well🙂

Maybe you should reduce your lantus from 3 units to 2! 😉 ........one bonus with my pump is that i know exactly when and how much bolus I have taken.......rather than when I was on MDI and me saying or thinking "did I take my injection?" Lost count of how many times I had done that and also waking up to a high reading but I may have forgotten to take my night time lantus! 🙂

Again, jealous! 6.2 with a missed injection?! I'd have been way into the 20s too.

I used to forget injections occasionally on MDI. But also, because I'd been doing it so long & went into autopilot at injection time, I've been known to take a double dose because I thought I'd forgotten!

Pump is definitely great for the forgetful 🙂
