Hello,

I want to start using an online delivery provider for my repeats. Anyone got a good suggestion or which to avoid?

Thanks,

Phoebe

Does your surgery have an e-prescription service?

I can order my repeats online (but had to register with the surgery system first) and then choose which local pharmacy to collect from. The surgery then email the prescription directly to them and I can go and collect in a few days. Works a treat!

Yes, Mike, that is the NHS system, but it doesn’t involve delivery. There are several private companies that do, but where do they make their money? Given the increasing number of them, it must be easy money - is there a subscription to pay? I really don’t know, because I don’t need such a service.

My very good friend who is T1. Over 70 & I have called on him twice & found him in a state (hypo). I went to shops because he had nothing in house. He was panicking the other day because his pharmacist could not deliver. Good for older people. 😎

Many local Pharmcies do home deliveries for the elderly and disabled.

Last year one day someone came to the door bearing a prescription bag - Pete answered it and yes, it was what I'd ordered a few days earlier.

Chap said he happened to notice it on the shelf and as he had to go a few doors away anyway - thought he may as well bring mine too!

Thanks I thought - however it could cause deep confusion - what if we were out and called for it on our way home or something? It's not happened since so no confusion. I didn't know they delivered though - so it's nice to know thanks 'in case'.

At least one of my local pharmacy's delivers I believe. One in your area very well might.
At Everydayupsanddowns says, you can register with your GP practice to order repeats online. If you wish, it goes straight to the pharmacy.

You may also be able to book appointments online too. Once I did this at 4am.

I order my repeat prescription of Omeprazole online & pick it up from my GP surgery. Because we live more than 3 miles from the surgery, all prescriptions are dealt with by them and not the pharmacy, which is odd as the pharmacy is on the same site as the surgery!
