Relationship to Diabetes
Type 1.5 LADA
So, I get blood test results (for everything) this friday which should determine whether or not I may possibly have ME/CFS, doctor has also included blood glucose which I can say is only going to either go one way or another...strangely good results completely not reflecting my everyday blood sugars or a bad result and everything will go tits up from there. I'm scared...

On another note, I was thinking today that sometimes I feel it's better for me to eat when i've blood sugars between 7 - 9 since the insulin is floating round my body during that time and can fix it, I think of it like a computer game! Since when i'm at 4 and then eat it will still shoot right up (obviously depending what I eat) and then takes ages coming down....hmm, i'm not sure but seems sort of possible to me.

Also, i'm part of a facebook group of MODY patients and one woman recently stated how when she recently added insulin to her routine after being on medication and could now tolerate more carbohydrate (not due to the amount of meds though). And I simply said perhaps it is because being a MODY the diabetes is a slow process so I thought perhaps its possible to get mini honeymoon periods since it hasn't all died at once as in Type 1s?

Sorry if this made no sense, i'm tired ahah :(

Hi Liz,
I'm getting confused (Easily done) Are you type 1.5 or MODY as you mention both in your posts. They are two different conditions.

They don't know! :/

I personally think MODY, so does my GP... but my ENDO is skeptical "one in a million chance". However, I was diagnosed at 16 and cannot find any cases of LADA (slow onset) at that age.

Hi Liz, have the proper tests been done? here's some more info on MODY http://diabetes.niddk.nih.gov/dm/pubs/mody/#3

I know Exeter research centre is the leading light in this country.

Very complex situation for you Lizabetic. As far as I know, it's not possible to diagnosis ME / CFS by blood test, although a diagnosis can only be made once all other options have been excluded, often by blood tests.

What blood glucose test has your doctor requested? HbA1c can't differentiate between types of diabetes. Only genetics can identify MODY, and teams need to test other members of your family if they're willing.

Anyway, hope you start to get some answers soon.
