I’ve been on tablets for two months but bg when I eat some carbs is a bit high.
Family gets annoyed with me because they think I should be able to eat “normally “.

Welcome. Even on medication too many carbs will send your levels soaring.

Family should be supportive and encourage you to make the food choices that will help you the best.

Unlike my father who a week or so after my diagnosis ate so much pizza, pasta, ice cream and chocolate in front of me despite being type 2 himself. Very encouraging. It was at my nephew’s birthday party. Everyone else ate the rubbish while I ate salad and a slimming world meal my mother got in for me. Saying that my husband showed support and only ate minimal rubbish to encourage me.

Good control @merrymunky well done.🙂 Half a packet of Maltesers for you.:D

Hi @Clive Leach welcome to the forum.🙂 What tablets are you on? as @travellor says are you self testing?

Hello Clive and welcome. I too have been taking the tablets for 2 months. My family are pretty good but don’t hesitate to tuck in when I can’t. It seems most people have high bg’s after eating carbs, try to keep them as low as possible. My daughters favourite phrase is ‘well you’ve got to treat yourself ‘ however she will say it every day!!! Your family will get used to it, be strong, we are all rooting for you

@SueEK - I sincerely trust that you point out to her EVERY SINGLE TIME she - or anyone else! - says anything like that to you respond by saying Yes - but if I had it every day (like you want me to do) it would utterly cease to ever be a treat! Or - try to say absent mindedly - Yes, but I don't actually want to commit suicide just at the mo.

@Clive Leach - ever asked them to explain (in detail quoting sources) WHY they think that?

Thank you Jenny, we are singing from the same hymn sheet. I took her with me to see the DN and also taking her for my eye screening tomorrow. To be fair like me she had no idea of what being diabetic involves - she’s learning haha
