Thinking of you both Grainger.

Update:

Have seen diabetes team who are happy for me to go home. One adjustment made but they think it’s just one of those things that sometimes happen and have suggested trying liquid hypo treatment rather than glucotabs to help bring me back up faster.

Now I have to wait for maternity doctors to be happy with me - hopefully won’t be a problem.

What a night you’ve had, Grainger. So relieved to hear you and baby are ok and hopefully going home soon. What ward is hubby on? Best make sure he doesn’t end up receiving any ‘treatment’ LOL.🙂

He’s been given a bed in my room! Delivery Unit so hopefully they won’t get confused and try to c section him! Lol.

All sounding good 🙂

Been discharged with baby firmly still in my belly! May end up going for an additional scan but right now we get to go home and just be 🙂.

Thanks all for keeping me company!

How dreadful. In the middle of the night too! Having to deal with this sort of thing when you should be asleep is not good for lots of people.
Hope you get home OK. Have you had dinner? What did you have for breakfast?

I’d had chicken tikka curry (homemade) with some poppadoms no rice. 20g carbs.

I was given breakfast at hospital - they even went off to find me wholemeal bread so that was nice. Blood sugar sitting around 5.3 now so we shall see what today brings 🙂

Good figure.
I was brought up with dinner being between 12 noon and 1pm. lol I was wondering if and what you'd had before heading out into the snow. I'm guessing you had the homemade dinner at home.

Oh grainger - fears of placenta failure - EEEEK!

Drives you batty - or battier than usual LOL - when the doc in charge of the ward thinks - no is utterly CONVINCED - something different to what your specialist diabetes training tells you - they wanted to pump two units of insulin per hour into me through the sliding scale when I was having my knee operation last year. OK I did need a lot more insulin than usual because of the injury plus the op - but my usual TDD basal is a total of 10 units. I virtually screamed 'How much?' - in which case they referred back to the ortho consultant who apparently consulted the D clinic - and settled on 1 uph, plus accompanying glucose drip and things were fine.

The midwives of course have far far more experience because they always spend shedloads of time with diabetic ladies before during and after than flippin doctors of any type or speciality do - same as DSNs.

It's the communication between em all that's always lacking, isn't it?

Very glad you're OK, that's a relief for everyone, especially you! What did you do with little one when all this was happening? Did you have to get Grandma up too?

@grainger
Thinking of you in Shanghai here Grainger and hope everything is ok again soon.

@Ralph-YK lol sorry southerner here lunch at lunch and dinner at dinner :D. We got some when we got home. Snow not too bad here so driving conditions all good and now safely home and not planning to go out again.

@trophywench yeah it’s been eventful! Grandma to the rescue as always, got to mine at 12.30pm last night/this morning! My little one super excited this morning when he realised she was here and simply said to my mum “they’ve gone to the hospital again?” - not even remotely bothered!
Have to admit I was so thankful for the midwives sticking up for me and refusing to make me eat without adjusting or doing anything I didn’t want to.
It’s nice to be home - hoping bloods behave now - just 3 more weeks to get through!

Thanks all for good wishes 🙂

You do realise that we all have a vested interest in your baby's welfare (and thus his/her mum)? That baby has sooo many honorary Godparents albeit all with Ds....🙂🙂🙂🙂

So good to read and hope you can rest and recover now, you must be exhausted! Thank goodness for midwifes.

I've never been a Godparent - but I'm not eligible anyway other than for a Methodist christening. I've never worked out to my satisfaction why it seems so essential so early on in life to the Church, bearing in mind they all reckon all of em were born innocent and until they are quite a bit older don't really have the opportunity to become otherwise - I've never studied it though and that must mean I have no inclination to find out, thanks! LOL

Sound like you did an excellent job of keeping things in hospital under control.
Glad that you are home and safe.

How are you today @grainger?

Hey, I’m much better thanks. Pretty wiped due to lack of sleep but otherwise good. Been a bit cautious and kept my sugar levels around 7 today but feeling more confident now so planning to get back to target tomorrow.

Thanks for thinking of me 🙂. Am off to bed now to try and catch up on some sleep!
