Am confused & need help!

So yesterday I embarked on the 30 day shred workout DVD....with this in mind I left my BG a bit higher before starting....

19:40 - BG 10.0

After exercise - 20:20 BG 7.9

Dinner - 50g carbs, 5.5u humalog (chilli & brown rice)

22:01 - BG 15.8 😱 Another 12g carbs eaten, meter advised 3.5u (correction plus for carbs)

00:12 - Bedtime BG 8.7 (10u Levemir taken @ 23:00pm)

This morning........

07:41 - BG 3.8 😱 I RARELY see in range number in the morning, and when I do it's in the 8-9 region. So I thought...hmm probably something to do with the exercise? I never treated though as I felt fine....and know my BG climbs rapidly in the mornings all the time so didn't want to swing high!

09:44 - BG 7.8 - Breakfast eaten 43g carb - 5u humalog taken

11:46 - 2 hour PP test - 18.9 😱 (washed hands as mighty confused!!) and then a 20.5 😱

Have just done a 4u correction. Sigh.

What the heck is going on?!?!?!?! How would you interpret all that and what should I change for tonight as am going to be doing the DVD again after work!! It's a 20 min cardio & weights workout basically, done for 30 days back to back.

Would appreciate any help, thanks! x

Anyone?? :(

And on it goes....felt a bit funny but tested before lunch -

14:08 - BG 5.0 35g carbs so 3.5u humalog

14:29 - still eating lunch, felt hypo - tested BG 2.7 :(

Have had carton of fresh orange juice but since my lunch was salad with some cajun chicken pasta it might take longer to work I guess!

I have to drive in 20 mins too as have a Dr appt at 3.20pm, argh!!

Fedup.com today - and I have to come back to work after the Drs too!! Bah.

When you felt funny and tested before lunch, you were probably on the way down (hence you felt funny) - I can feel hypo before I get to being 'properly' hypo - after all, the test strips dont have to be 100% accurate, and they are testing blood that may be a few minutes old, so the 2 combined might be the reason for your hypo there.

Yeah it was such a huge drop from this mornings stupidly high reading too I guess that's why I felt it!! My insulin sensitivity changes quite a lot I find, which is making it hard to get the right correction doses! 😡

Eeekk!!

You feeling well in yourself? (If you discount the feeling high)

Could you be over correcting hence the hypos? Once I have been hypo I do half the correction even if I shoot up very high.
I hope you feel better and the exercise went well this evening.

Well you would normally reduce your boluses (at least) when in the throes of exercise - min 10%, so I'd suggest leaving your basal and knocking some off your boluses if I?

Surely knocking off the bolus is only going to make the high higher

The low morning result, which you said is rare, could be due to 'hungry muscles' reclaiming fuel that they've lost when exercising.

Off topic: Nice avatar Aoife :D

maybe reducing any correction you need to make next time? Although if it was me I would have done exactly the same, numbers like that are scary.

I think exercise makes you more sensitive to insulin

I'm skinny as hell I need the same advise . I carnt use my gym coz I know it will kill me in one day . Q If any guys in Birmingham want to work out with me and help each other out I'm here .
