Relationship to Diabetes
Type 1
Hi, I have been type 1 diabetic for 43 years now. I was diagnosed on 26/12/1972. I have seen a lot of developments during my diabetic career and am currently on pump therapy.

Welcome to the forum mindy. Being on the pump now you must have used all the possible management systems. I hope that you are enjoying your pump. He you been on it for long.

Thank you all for the warm welcome 🙂
One word describes diabetes over the years: Challenging! I have hit every end of the spectrum at some point during my life time but the care I have received from the NHS especially those who specialize in diabetes has been nothing but outstanding.

I have been on my current pump & CGM for 3 years. It has been a life saver for me - no more severe hypo's/seizures and no more daily visits to A&E!!! I think they got fed up with seeing me so frequently lol. That is in the past now thankfully. How are you & yours?

Hi Mindy, good to hear how much things have improved for you since going onto the pump.

With pumping I have lost weight (not having as many hypos so fewer snacks) but for me the biggest thing is the increased flexibility. I was getting so frustrated with the MDI. With retirement no two days are the same and it is great being able to use the TBRs to adjust things so quickly. The different deliveries of bolus are also great to cater for some of the foods that were more difficult on MDI. I LOVE MY PUMP.
