I agree. My DSN tried to get me a meter & strips but sadly failed. She strongly advocates testing. I told her about the Codefree & the price of the strips, & she is putting to the hierarchy in the hope they will consider prescribing them.
Nonsense to say NO...you don't have medication...work hard to control your diabetes...one review a year...no foot check...no DSN...FFS...I am determined to keep mine on prescription...hard fought battle with my local CCG...helped several do likewise...on a point of principal my prescription is going nowhere!

May I ask about coming off the diabetic register? My last reading was 34, and my GP said she didn't want to see me again but to see the nurse annually for a blood test and foot-tickling etc. Do different areas have different rules about taking people off or what...?
Possible she may have taken you off then PM...without officially stating that?...seem to be on exactly the same checks as Mark.

Blimey...didn't realise that Mark...think its even more important to test with diet & exercise only...if I get off that last pill next year...like to see my GP try & stop my prescription
Do you get test strips?

Well done. Your hard work and commitment has been an inspiration. Don't disappear Mark

Yep I do Carol...asked my GP...he said he would prescribe them...but my local CCG would intervene...stop him...challenged them...justified my need/use of them...lot of hard work...but...successful...did it on principal...helped several others do the same...don't want to hijack Marks thread...believe every type 2 should have strips & a meter...if you're ever interested in trying...let me know.

I think it does vary depending on area or GP or DSN. Must admit, I do find it weird that if I'm not on the register, why go for annual blood tests? I think I am still on the register, otherwise, why bother.

If you think about it, the less blood tests you have & the less the GP's & DSN's monitor us, then testing is more important than ever.

Thank you to everyone for the lovely messages. I will still be hanging around here as I still have Type 2 diabetes, despite what the medical people say. Just very well controlled.🙂

Precisely

I believe you will still be on the register...heard that usually marked with a code that implies in remission...but...as you say always will be diabetic...so need that test...bit surprised no further foot checks...I suppose their view would be if your BG is under control...unlikely to have/incur nerve damage.

Well I've seen my DSN 4 times in total & only had 2 foot checks.

Saw our surgery DSN once...won't see her anymore...GP checked pulses and so on last week...for goodness sake it just makes you feel they don't want to make any investment in diabetics that manage on Metformin or diet & exercise only...surely prevention...keeping it at bay is so important.

Well done and keep up the brilliant work!
