It's the result you've all been waiting for.

HbA1c: 36.

🙂

That's all that was tested. No cholesterol, no BP, no weighing in. And I've been discharged from the diabetic clinic. I will be having a blood test once a year for the rest of my life, but no longer will see the DSN.
🙂

Fantastic, congratulations!

Well done Markyp...great work...but...are you happy with just one check a year?...can't wait to 'ditch' my last pill...discussed it with GP...who says I can still have regular HbA1c tests...ps...who got it right?...know it wasn't me:(.

I’m surprised they’re continuing to test you at all if you’re off the Diabetic Register Mark. You’re only getting the same as me, an annual Hba1c test and not from a DSN. Presumably you’ll still get the retinal and foot check though? I think they should have checked your cholesterol because it was a tad high.

I expect you’ll still do you home monitoring and you certainly know the score by now.

I was surprised they didn't check my cholesterol. Can't have been that bothered. My DSN as always been happy with my ratios. I won't be getting a regular foot check, but still get the retinal checks. They can't stop that once it's been started, but i'm happy with that anyway. I'm glad they are doing an annual blood test. Even with home testing it's nice to be kept an eye on.

I'm fine with one check a year. Will still be self monitoring to make sure I don't drift off too far.:D

Yippee Mark! 😛 My 35 guesstimate wasn’t bad. Hope that doesn’t mean you’re removing yourself from this Register too? 😳
No, I'll still be hanging around here.

Congratulations, brilliant news Mark! Now which of your delicious desserts are you going to make to celebrate 😛
I am celebrating tonight, but I haven't made my own pudding. Bought a Sicilian lemon tartlet.🙂

Okay...have you got to self fund now...or is he still prescribing?

That’s fantastic news.

I've always self funded. No meter from them as not on meds.

Blimey...didn't realise that Mark...think its even more important to test with diet & exercise only...if I get off that last pill next year...like to see my GP try & stop my prescription

I agree. My DSN tried to get me a meter & strips but sadly failed. She strongly advocates testing. I told her about the Codefree & the price of the strips, & she is putting to the hierarchy in the hope they will consider prescribing them.

May I ask about coming off the diabetic register? My last reading was 34, and my GP said she didn't want to see me again but to see the nurse annually for a blood test and foot-tickling etc. Do different areas have different rules about taking people off or what...?
