Sorry to hear you had a rough day, hope things settled after that.
Thanks Newbs. Everything is completely fine now 🙂

Amanda, which sets do you use?

Just wondering if you'd do better with the stainless steel cannulas instead of the Teflon - if in fact you are using Teflon?

The stainless ones are called Rapid D, and they have a 'tail' instead of connecting the tubing directly to the cannula.

Incidentally, I carry a couple of insulin syringes in my handbag. They take no room and it means you can have a jab somewhere else than your current pump site if the first correction doesn't wok and you are still out and about.

Thanks Bev. The meatballs were a very rare treat. My BG started coming down within 40 minutes of the correction that I had following the set change - it was my third correction, I did two corrections before opting for the set change. I think that I have a problem with cannulas sometimes due to scarring after 42 years of diabetes. My DSN and I came to the conclusion that I need to change my cannula every day - and I'm not the only one who has to do this - but I didn't change it this morning so that may be part of the problem.

Amanda,
I usually change my cannula every day, if not, certainly every 36 hours. I use the Rapid D steel, I also look at what I am going to be doing. Quite often when you need to do a set change it can be at the most inconvenient time! If my BS hasn't come down after 2 hours of my first correction I change my cannula. I hope your numbers are behaving. 🙂

Thanks TW I use the plastic cannulas - not sure what they are properly called but they feel comfortable and I like the insertion device. I don't like the metal ones. Thanks for the tip about the syringes. If I'm out for a while I will take my insulin pen, a spare cartridge and two needles. If I'm out for longer then I will take everything for a set change but fortunately haven't had to use that yet. I don't go out very often at the moment because of Susie. I then use the insulin for my next insulin cartridge change so it isn't wasted. Thanks Phil I'm glad that I've found someone else who also has to change each day. My BGs have been completely behaving themselves since my original post, thank goodness🙂
