Relationship to Diabetes

Hi guys... I have had diabetes for 6 years and the diabetes nurse is trying me on glicazide 40mg to start. My sugars are c**p right now 9's and 10's. I have to test every two hours and keep a log for her which is fine... Here is the nub though... i always used to test the same finger (not often) but now i need to rotate test sites or get sore.. i have noticed through trial and error that there is a full 1mmol or whichever scale i use... between my little finger and my 'swivel' finger.... Anyone else notice this?

Yes! A similar thing, anyway. My right hand usually gives me a higher figure than my left. I don't know why it should be more sugary than the left, but there we are!

There's often a marginal difference between mine - but not a 'marked' difference - how on earth is it possible to be THAT different (unless obviously you test after you placed a Chelsea bun on a plate LOL)

Well quite, but there we are, it's happened to me too often for it to be random meter variation. ( though of course, sometimes it does work the other way round because of that, and I haven't kept records) I did wonder if, because I'm right handed, my right arm needs more fuel, so my system always ensures there's a bit more glucose floating around.

I'd love you to ask your clinic!

Diabetes trivia it may well be - but has just piqued my interest!

Along the same line, I find that if I have my libre on my right arm(I'm right handed), the readings are closer to finger pricks than when it is on my left arm. Go figure...o_O

I never even consider this. The DN I saw when I was diagnosed told me to alternate my fingers, and not to use my two index fingers. She never really explained why though.

Only the little finger on my left hand gives me any blood to speak of so I don't have much choice. I do find this a fascinating subject, would love to know why this happens.
