Relationship to Diabetes
Type 1
I was informed last week of my success at securing a new role with the NHS.

Today I received all the documents through email.

They use a third party OH company and at 16.10 completed the online questionnaire. I declared my diabetes and visual impairment & medication.

At 17.00 they had already screened it and sent me the outcome report.

It says, needs further information & tele-medical will be arranged.

Im guessing tele-medical is a telephone call?

Anything to be worried about?

I wouldn't have though so - wonder if they even know the difference between the Types though!

Doctor at Norwich Union Occ Health I had to see 13 years ago assured me even if my HbA1c was 13% I could take his word for it that this wouldn't be any cause for concern.

Speechless! Thank God he wasn't my doctor.

Congratulations on the new job @MarkGeordie !

Hope the telemedical goes well 🙂

Thanks.

I just wonder if they want to discuss the reasonable adjustments I might need in my job as I requested this and said I’ll be applying for the DWP Access to Work.

I wouldn't know! - but why would they need to, unless to assess whether what you are requesting is in fact reasonable from your health's POV?

No idea. I’ll have to wait for the appointment to come through.

I would say its nothing to be concerned about.
The same happened to me (though was 5 years ago), with a 3rd party OH service too.
Straight forward telephone call.

Ah thanks. They rang today, I’m booked in for next Wednesday.

I have worked for the NHS for 23yrs and been Type 1 since 14 yrs old. Never had an issue with work, OH or colleagues. It can be at times physically demanding and in the past part of the of job included driving around and visiting patients homes, diabetes never been a issue.
Welcome to the NHS family
