Nystatin and blood sugar levels

At risk of diabetes
I have finished a course of amoxcillin for a chest infection and now have oral thrush.

I'm prescribed Nystatin 4 times a day.

Day 4 I did Blood finger prick (fasting) abs noticed blood sugar has risen to the 6's and usually in the early 5's.

I did read about if you have sensitivity to sugar to be aware.
Does anyone have experience of this?

You’re probably reading too much into it. You can’t conclude that it’s raising your blood sugar based on one fingerprick in the 6s instead of the 5s. Your blood sugar changes every minute of the day and fingerprick monitors aren’t that accurate anyway.

It was actually more than one finger prick. I'm usually early 5's so to go to the 6's us quite unusual.
I know a finger prick is only an indication bit I do it a few times first thing before eating or drinking as Dr Michael Mosley in his book stated its a good way to keep tabs on your levels if they're creeping up again.

Recently my fasting blood glucose increased slightly, I spoke to a Pharmacist who said it might be due to the current heat and/or dehydration. Oh, so much to learn about Diabetes.

Could just be a bit higher in general because it's hot and you've been unwell with a chest infection and now a yeast infection?

Oh, so much to learn .... and that includes the principle that very little is definite with Diabetes.

We're each different. But mostly, warmer weather means those taking insulin often need to reduce their insulin doses because the warm weather improves our natural insulin resistance and allows one's body to get a more efficient use of whatever insulin is on board: home grown or injected. So the Pharmacist could certainly be right about dehydration, caused by the heat, raising BG. But if already well hydrated then I'd expect my BG to drift down naturally - as I'm experiencing in this hot weather.
