May be a bit different, I ride a motorbike thats always had a reputation as a built for comfort machine. Now sfter about an hour I get a numb bum, not quite pins and needles. More recently noticed getting the same feeling when sitting around the house. :(

Just hope its not another complication of the D, I do suffer from syactica though the feelings are not the same as when the syactica strikes.

Hmm, I can't comment on the diabetes aspects, but I do get numbness myself and I think it's down to back trouble in my case.

Been on many long distance trips inc Russian border, Istanbul, 4000mile in ten days without any probs. Does you need a Gell seat ?

Thats what one dealer suggested, they then looked up the purchase info of the bike and its should have the best seat option already fitted. I concerned that the numness now also happens when sittting on a settee as well now, seams to be spreading.

I had an inflamed sciatic nerve when I fell on a bag of recycling (long story 😱), and had numbness and tingling when sitting for an extended period, the doc in the hospital said it was the sciatic nerve. Sure enough when the inflammation calmed the numbness went, so it could be your sciatica.

Sounds like a bit of back trouble, jalapino right a trip to the dr is in order, as nerve damage from diabetes doesnt generally come and go...Tintin

Hope its the old back trouble flaring up. There are reasons why not keen to make a docs appointment, not for posting on an open to any one can see. Though can see myself having to go soon as need a new hba1c and diabetic review again in the very near future.

I used to get a numb bum at the onset of a hypo it was one of the warning signs.I too rode a Bonneville and used to get numb throttle hand after about 30 mins. This wasnt an onset just a nuisance.

Hey Pav i am 99% sure it's linked to your back. 1 month after having back op i get numbness in my bumb, the consultant said sitting for long periods of time puts pressure on your lower lumbar region of your back in my case and possibly yours sciatic nerve. Try to pull over when biking to get off and stretch, the same with sitting at home. If im on sofa i need to prop myself up with cushions. I also find a high back chair comfy. Laura 🙂

whatever it is please go get it checked out. I had a pain in the bum that turned out to be something serious. Happily it was treatable but the sooner it is checked out the more treatable it is

It looks like the docs visit is on the cards, was going to go out today, instead at home in pain. :(

Sorry you are in pain pav, thought bum had gone numb not painful as well. Let us know what happens at drs and don't let them fob you off, you want it investigated. Thinking of you...Tintin

Forgot to reply to this, appointment with a doc I have not seen before, confirmed it was cyatica. Lost some of the feeling in the left leg, the cyatica as eased slightly but nowhere near enough.

Been given ibuprofen and a exersise list, looked at a couple of them thought they were mission impossible, also need some one to be with me ehen doing the exercises as I might not be able to get off the floor after doing them. Bit awkward when one is on there own, will have to have a go at them at some point.

Dear Pav, physio initially was good for me, there are reasons why the sciatic nerve is playing up and the only thing that will show this is an MRIscan. No amount of exercises and ibroprufen would resolve my sciatic pain, mine was caused by prolapsed discs which were pressing against the nerve. Please don't suffer if you are not happy go back. Most people I've spoken to with back problems take gabapentin or tramadol. Keep us updated and do not get fobbed off by GP

Thanks Laura, you might of hit the nail. If I do the usual and follow mom things like alergies and other things, all her discs have collapsed causing her extreame pain.
