Nov 2024 HbA1C 129, today did repeat - nervous about result!

respect for that Well done

Still waiting for all the other blood results however HbA1C in and it’s 41. From 129 to 41 in 4 months. Major lifestyle change and not going to lie had some chocolate along the way, however, I noticed on finger prick monitor my numbers were always better when I did steps so kept moving.

Wow @Zaraah that’s amazing! Congrats on the HbA1c :star: <3 :star:

Thank you all for kind words.

Got some of other results back and got a text today from GP to say folic acid low and then have sent prescription to pharmacy to start course of medications. Not sure if low folic acid related to being newly diagnosed as T2?!

I had the same (take folic acid (and vitD)) at diagnosis, no one explained why and no review with GP booked. Unsure whether maybe the diabetic nurse will confirm why when I eventually get the luxury of seeing her! Be interested to know why

Thanks @Lea123. So the vitamin D and folate blood tests were done along with cholesterol and others at the repeat HbA1C recently. I actually asked for vitamin D and folate blood tests and GP added them.

I called surgery yesterday and for review of HbA1C nurse only does telephone appointment which booked for anytime afternoon next week.

If I find out the answer will update here again. With vitamins D I was lucky as it was normal as I already started taking that when first diagnosed T2 as know I generally tend to be deficient in this.

I just hoping nothing low folate nothing serious as reading Dr Google has made me think all sorts!! Hopefully something simple and normal. In the text from Gp said in addition to tablets he has described to eat foods which have folic naturally such as chickpeas which ironically is my go to for homemade chickpea curry at lunchtimes. Not sure I can eat more chickpeas!! 🙂

I had the same after 3 months of low carb and think it was because I had cut out many of the foods which would be fortified with Folate like bread and cereals. A course of meds seemed to sort it out and it has not shown up since.

Thanks @Leadinglights. GP has prescribed meds for 4 months although no mention of a follow up blood test in text I received. Should I be requesting it?!
