Thats what I thought today I was 3.7 at lunch time just managed to get my BI about right and now this well I go back to see the DOC tomroow so Ill see what she says but last night before dinner it was 2.8 agen same ratio so I am gettin a bit confused now about it all but thank you

In theory, once the BI dose is right, the QA doses should settle down.....until your confident that is right you may still need to tweak your meal time ratios from time to time.......all thing being equal that is.......(illness, activity etc)

I am the same, once you accept that dafne or just diabetes in general is not black and white it becomes easier........for example, out of nowhere I just had a hypo, 3.3, never have hypos at this time, it was quiet scary as well, really dizzy, that never happens too, so it just shows you.........

I am confident its your background, you should hold steady over night, if you dont the dose needs changed/split etc.......

Good luck at the docs...........

thank you yes it has been the BI I think so to it was DAFNE that told me to drop it from 20 to 14 and I have never been right since Doc told me to but it back up and to have it back to 20 by the time I went back but I think the 18 I am having now is working ok for now so Ill see what DOC says tomrrow

well went to see Doc today and she said that things were getting better and to keep BI at 18 and just change QAto ratios when needed. I said that I had put this morning 1 down to 1.5-1 from 2-1 and now I have a BG at 12.2 and its 10.30 so I keep testing and see what happens today. Might have to go back to 2-1 but I will see thanks for everything. Told her if it haddent been for you lot I dont know what I would have done.

Thats great news, when you find out your BI dose is near enough perfect it makes things so much easier........

I think you should wait and see what your lunchtime reading is, it will probably be on target, if it is then the dose is pretty good, its just the food your eating may be giving you higher spikes than you would like...I personally dont have any starchy carbs at lunch during the week, like bread, pasta etc.....only salad now with a bannana and a yoghurt, i rarely go over 10 at the 2 hour mark........

As a DANFE grad, I would try not to test between meals, unless neccesary, for a few days to see what the insulin is actually doing with your food.......then you can fine tune your ratios.........and then you can start questioning the food to try and further drop the post meal spikes...

thanks well , at 12.00 it was10.0 and at 2.00 11.3 Idid a corection at 12.00 as well. But I did have a cornish pasty.(bad thing). I dont have to go back to see Doc and I go back to see Dafne lot on Wedensday next week. But atleast I am feeling better than I did last week.🙂

10 is off target, but nearly there..........more investigation is needed, possible one more unit of BI...............

As I say its definetly worth looking into your food to try and avoid spiking, once your ratios are on the ball......

Have fun at the reunion, hopefully you can get more specialised advice and some stories from the others.............

thanks but think Ill tell them off first it was them that told me to but BI bown from 20 to 14 and thats when the trouble started. But thanks to you lot I am getting there:D

I know, the dafne educators want to drive your background down first then come back up, instead of dropping it by small increments..........

In total I am on 44 units of BI a day.............when I started dafne they had me on one dose of lantus, 18 units..........the results were not that shocking though...........😱
